yeah...might not see something like that again...to make it even more impressive, they were down 18 at half...apparently he told everyone on his team they were going to win the game...

makes me proud to be a raptor fan! least we're in the books now

I watched the 2h of this game and he continues to completely amaze me on how he can rise with 2 people in his jock strap and hit nothing but net!!

He's totally unstopable. It's really fun to watch especially in my backyard.

Your the Man KOBE!!

What sucks from a handicapping perspective is theres NO FREAKIN WAY to know when Kobe, Iverson, James, etc. are gonna go off. I know anyone can light up any team on any given night, but there are repeat offenders that blow wagers.

My solution is not simply to bet ON those teams, but just be cautious when betting AGAINST them. My current list includes Iverson (he used to be the worst but b/c he's actually LESS of a ballhog than he USED to be, there are worse now), Kobe, James, and TMac (if he ever stays healthy). True there are other scorers who can change the game on a given night, notably Shaq, Wade, Pierce, Ray Allen, Anthony etc...I find the worst and most common offenders to be the 4 above.

im fortunate to get a chance to watch lebron james every night and its mind-boggling the potential that kid has, but he's still not in kobe's league. kobe is the best player in basketball ... period. as crazy as it sounds, he doesn't get nearly as much credit as he deserves for being as good as he is. everyone points to his selfishness yet he is an all-nba defender that can lock anybody down on a given night. props to kobe for a great accomplishment

gman, talent is talent, winning and making teammates better is another thing; ruining the lakers (which Magic has gone on record saying Kobe did) is also a talent as a teammate ... He can score all he wants, but I doubt, and actually hope he never gets to another finals--unless his spots change, which i fear are too ingrained

Anyone think Carmelo can have some kind of encore tonight?
This looks too tempting:

Carmelo Anthony (DEN) Ov. 29? P+A -130

I will go on record & say that Kobe's performance is more impressive than Wilts when he put up 100. Kobe scored 19 less points, but he took 17 LESS shots & 12 LESS FTA!!!! than Wilt on that night in Hershey, PA. That is freakin incredible! You give Kobe 17 more shots & 12 more FTs he might go for 110.

:hail

From ESPN.com:

Don't forget, furthermore, that no less an authority than Michael Jordan has been known to say that a perimeter player has it way tougher when it comes to making a legitimate run at Wilt's record. Factor in the ball-handling responsibilities and the energy required to play defense all over the floor and you can understand MJ's theory. This might also help back it up: Jordan himself topped out at 69 points as his one-night best and needed overtime to get there.

Only reason I brought up James is b/c he fukks up bets sometimes, like Kobe does. Both are on mediocre teams that hover around .500, which doesnt make them particularly dangerous to bet AGAINST on a given night. The fact that both teams have players that can light it up for 50+ against almost ANYONE makes them tough to go against, b/c you run the risk of one of "those games" like Kobe just had. My comparison ended there.

Interesting stat about Kobe's selfishness

Interesting stat about Kobe's selfishness

Out of all the SG in the NBA Kobe is tied for 4th in the league in assists averaging 4.3 per game. Those ahead of him are Wade, Joe Johnson, Ricky Davis, and he is tied with Vinsanity.

With all the selfishness chatter he still is averaging a few dimes per game and for his career averages 4.4 per game.

Historically, Jordan averaged 5.3 apg. Not a great discrepancy and we cannot forget that when Jordan was the age of Kobe, Jordan was learning about the team concept and taking his lumps.

There is plenty of vision that says that Kobe may develop an appreciation for a more complete team game but at this time he is spreading his wings. He wanted his own team and finds himself in the same area as Jordan from 85-90.

Hopefully he will assimilate and learn to trust his "supporting cast."
