KU line is -18 1/2, I was willing to take my Hawks at -12 or 13, but 18 is just too many. if KU is up by 15 -20 with a minute or so left fans love to see the non-starts...so... bench comes in which usually throws the line to the opponet.

MU +18 1/2 for 2 UNITS :0corn

GAME NOTES: The Border Showdown series adds another chapter this evening, as the Kansas Jayhawks play host to the Missouri Tigers in Big 12 action at the Allen Fieldhouse. The Jayhawks opened the season 20-0 before suffering their only defeat, an 84-75 setback to rival Kansas State last week in Manhattan. The team bounced back however, with Saturday's 72-59 win over Colorado in Boulder. The victory moved the team back into a first-place tie with the Wildcats atop the Big 12 standings (6-1), thanks to KSU's loss at the hands of Missouri. The Tigers were severely shorthanded this week following an altercation at a night club resulting in several players getting suspended, as well as one injured. Still, Missouri was able to post one of its most impressive wins of the year, knocking off Kansas State, 77-74 and beginning a stretch of three straight matchups against ranked opponents. Following this game, the Tigers will return home next weekend to play host to Texas A&M. Kansas holds a 165-93 edge in the all-time series with Missouri and has won four straight meetings, including a 76-70 decision in Columbia earlier this season. The Jayhawks have also won eight straight matchups with Missouri in Lawrence.

The Tigers certainly rose to the occasion this weekend, despite the suspensions and injury to leading scorer Stefhon Hannah. The team got a great performance from guard J.T. Tiller, who poured in a career-high 20 points, leading the Tigers to the three-point upset of the Wildcats on Saturday. Missouri trailed by as many as 15 points in the first half, but shot a scorching .643 after the break to earn the victory. Joining Tiller in double figures were recently reinstated Leo Lyons (13 pts), as well as Keon Lawrence (11 pts). Still, the team is at an offensive disadvantage without Hannah (14.7 ppg) in the lineup, especially this evening against the explosive Jayhawks. A broken jaw will keep him sidelined for several more weeks, leaving more of an offensive burden on DeMarre Carroll (13.7 ppg, team-high 7.6 rpg) and Lyons (11.8 ppg). Keon Lawrence (9.8 ppg) and Matt Lawrence (9.3 ppg) will be counted on as well.

The Jayhawks remain one of the favorites to win the Big 12 because of their balanced play at both ends of the court. The team leads the conference and ranks in the top-five nationally with a robust scoring margin of +22.8. Kansas is averaging 82.5 ppg, while allowing a mere 59.7 and is shooting an impressive .515 from the floor. Four of the team's five starters are averaging double figures, led by Darrell Arthur's 13.3 ppg. Arthur gets help in the frontcourt by fellow forward Darnell Jackson (12.8 ppg, 7.0 rpg). The backcourt is well stocked, with standouts Brandon Rush (12.3 ppg), Mario Chalmers (12.0 ppg. team-high 101 assists, conference-leading 2.6 spg), Sherron Collins (9.2 ppg) and Russell Robinson (6.9 ppg, 98 assists, 49 steals). The Jayhawks played to a 30-30 tie at the half in Boulder this past weekend, but a pair of 11-2 runs in the second stanza provided all the cushion needed for the victory. Jackson led the way with 18 points. Rush added 15 points, while Sasha Kaun came off the bench with 12 in 21 minutes of work. The team shot the ball well again (.533) and outrebounded the Buffaloes, 34-21.

Missouri is coming off a thrilling win over Kansas State. However, the Tigers would find it difficult in Lawrence even at full strength. At less than that, expect the Jayhawks to take full advantage, leading to another double-digit victory for the home team.
