La Tech +3.5 over North Texas ***
Both teams coming off big wins.NT smoked Smoo 43-6...the question is..is NT that good or is Smoo that bad...even though NT won I really think its Smoos that is that bad...bad enough for June to quit..Smoo offense was so bad..8 total rushing yds,5 turnovers{ 3 fumbles}NT does have a young defense that played really good..even vs Texas the week before...but NT offense still has no passing game....Greer was 9-12 with 86 yds and McNulty 3-5 for 22 yds...they were all high % passes no more then 7-9 yds...when Texas figured out after the 1st half 2 weeks ago about NT's passing game they loaded the box...Smoo defense was so bad NT got its running game going...NT has solid rb's and decent wr's..they have a great OL...and a young exciting defense....
La Tech got beat bad by OU in week 1...then on the road beat rival La-Laf 40-28..they gained 533 yds with Dixon one of the top backs gaining 184 yds..one was a 99 yd run...Sokol a juco all american can throw the ball...in 2 games he has almost 500 yds and 4 td's...vs OU he threw 22 completions and 2 td's...he has 2 or 3 wr's that can catch it and run...with Dixon they have a nice air-ground attack...
Last yr NT beat LAT 28-13....but LA didn't have a qb and Dixon was held to 28 yds vs a great senior laden defense..in that game NT returned 2 tds from interceptions...
This is Holtz's 2nd year and he has Manny Diaz as Def Coord from Texas...he was fired after BYU blowout..but he loves to blitz and disrupt Qb's...NT has to play conservative football with no air attack...think La Tech can figure that out and keep 8 in the box...meanwhile La Tech can run and throw...and will give NT defense problems..
North Texas cannot play catchup football....they have to nickel and dime you....Tech defense is avg but think they have the big stud in Dixon and a solid passing game..think La Tech wins this 27-13...

Baylor -32 over Buffalo **
Last yr BU beat BU 73-0....unreal..it was in Waco and this one is in upstate NY..the only problem is ..its not november...Petty might or might not play...doesn't make a difference..Russell came in and threw for tons of yds..Bears have good wr's and a solid rb...a good defense...they are more athletic at every position on the field.Buffs defense couldn't stop Army from scoring 48 pts..even though Licata the qb made a big comeback in the army game they still got beat...Buff defense is in trouble...Bears are No 1 in the nation in so many areas...granted they didn't play anyone but Briles just reloads his players...think the bears win big on the road...unless a "front" from canada comes down with 17 mph winds,7 degrees and a windchill of -5....and we know that ain't happening....baylor wins 55-14 with or without Petty...

Box, it's 62 degrees here this morning. Tomorrow supposed to be 88, then in the 90's the rest of the week.
Hope Mrs. Box has a good flight.
P.S. Martez Walker suspended from the UT BB team for hitting his girlfriend in the ribs. Not a starter, but a solid bench player.

They are flipping qb's and even though Lynch is gone still think Huskies have no problem with a weak offensive Rebel team..

Army +29 over Stanford **
Think Army can keep this close and lose by 3 td's...last years game was close until the 4th qrt...Stanford has to be upset about USC game...Army has some stud rb's.. Dixon is back and is tough..love Baggett..he can turn that corner and fly..Maples and 2 more...at Rb..Army defense is bad..and new coach promised more discipline,etc.. they had 12 or 13 penalties last week vs Buffalo...but think cadets can come under the big line..not a huge play..

Texas AM -32.5 over Rice ***
Think Aggies just blow them away big...55-0 or something close to that..

Penn St -3 over Rutgers ***
RU D will have trouble with PSU QB Hackenburg...this kid can throw ..he threw for 3,000 yds as a frosh lyr.RU secondary isn't to good.Hamilton and Lewis can catch the deep ball...RU beat up Howard and Wash St..they haven't seen a defense like this yet.Nova is still inconsistent at Qb for RU...think with a new lifeline the NCAA gave the Lions they wan to welcome Rutgers to the B-10 with a nice 10 pt win.

UCLA -7.5 over Texas ****
Bruins haven't played well struggling with Memphis last week...with Hundley at Qb think they give the Longhorns a big problem tonite in Arlington.Texas OL is in trouble..Swoopes can't throw the ball more then 7-10 yds with any accuracy...put 8 people in the box to stop brown and gray...and Texas offense is in trouble...think Hundley can generate enough points..Texas can't play catchup if the Bruins are leading..
