He will sign elsewhere after that pathetic move by his coach.

The guy held them scoreless for almost 7 had 2 outs and his coach does not even ask him if he is ok ?

You see him tell him THIS IS MINE COACH.

Only 3 or 4 teams can afford to offer him what Angels will so I would say there is still a very good chance he goes where the best money is. Like he was gonna do before this game anyway.

I don't necessarily disagree that he should have left him in. But he couldn't ask him if he was okay. They already made one mound visit. When he went out the second time there was nothing to discuss, he had to come out of the game.

How did he seal his fate?

He is a bulldog who wants the ball and wants to finish the inning. Not a thing wrong with that.

Thats what makes him the best free agent pitcher this winter.

You make it sound like he did something wrong by not wanting to come out of the game. I would rather have a guy who wants to stay in the game than someone who wants out when things get tough.

I think he meant that Lackey will not come back to the Angels after Scioscia took him out of the game when he wanted to stay in... I would be pretty surprised if that had any bearing on his decision this winter. I'm pretty sure he's going to chase the dollars regardless of what happens this post season.

Yeah that is going to have no affect on where he ends up.

Lackey never wants to come out of a game.

He will end up in Boston where the most money is.

Thecycle said what I meant. How do you take out your best pitcher in one of the biggest games of his career to date ? I for one as the pitcher would never forgive my coach.

I don't think he'll go to Boston. I've actually met him a couple of times and he hates Boston. Apologies to any Bostonians but these are his words, not mine. I quote "that place is a f'n s-hole. I hate going to that f'n place."

He was pretty boozed up when he said it but I'm pretty sure he isn't very fond of Boston. But as we all know money talks and everyone has a price so we'll see. I'd hate to see it.

Lackey is staying in SoCal...just for the Dodgers

You think so? I know the Dodgers #1 focus this offseason will be the rotation but you think they have the cash to throw his way? They aren't freeing up a ton of money this offseason to my knowledge.

I think the decision was based on performance against the batter he was about to face. I don't have the numbers in front of me but MLB was making talking points on this topic this morning and they suggested that LAckey was owned by the hitter.

Anyone think of his name?

Teixiera has hit Lackey to the tune of around .380 over 50+ at bats in his career. A lot of production out of a pretty large sample size.

Dodgers have at least 20 million freed up from Hudson, Wolf, Schmidt....if Manny left it would be 40 million....their problem maybe the divorce of the owners....that could get nasty

Manny isn't leaving. He won't get 20M anywhere else... They have that money freeing up but they have a ton of their young guys eligible for arbitration: Russell Martin, George Sherrill, Jon Broxton, Chad Billingsley, Matt Kemp and Hung Kuo are gonna add up really quickly. I just don't see them finding the space to be a real contender in the Lackey sweepstakes... I think a large player outside of the Angels trying to retain them could be the Mets. I don't know their exact financial situation but they need to make a big move and save some face for the last couple of years.

What's Texiera hitting off OLiver ??? A 3 run 2B thats what.

I think he should have been let in, stats are one thing but when you pull a guy maybe b/c of those numbers and the guy you bring in gives it up anyway

Lackey should have stayed in , my opinion

That's hindsight and not approachable in the discussion as the question was should Scoscia <spelliing> had to take in account the past performance and Yankees ability to surge in late innings.

I see your point but kind of easy statement.
