-125 Game MoneyLine +105

Over 199? -110 Game Total Under 199? -110

To me this moneyline play with the Lakers is a bargain. It has gone from -120 this morning to the present -125.

Got to think that the Lakers will come out to make a statement in the first game and will not want to go to 0-1 in any playoff scenario. Shaq attack and Kobe will be too much for Minn in this first game. Minn has not been consistant this year and they will need more than NBA player of the month Garnett, to pull out this win.

Do you think worm will come in and drop us a pick? He might be mad at us or something and give us a bogus tip.

Do you really agree or are you planning to fade the Lakers like some beech dog ?

maybe worm will show yet and verify my pick for me. I havnt placed this yet. I am watching the line movement first. I think they want us all over Minn at home but I could be wrong.

Lakers are going to be ready for shock and awe. Shaq will run roughshod over Garnett and bully him around to show him who is the boss.

LOCKER TALK

Jackson : OK I dont have to tell you guys that this first game is the one that counts. Win it, and the Lakers organization is on our way to repeating to four championship titles. Lose it and we put unnecessary pressure on ourselves which you and I don't need at this time of year. We made it here. Now this is our time to show them what we got. Yeh we didn't have our best season this year, but we have not made it this far to lose.

We can do this what we have to do. We will win this first game. What time is it ? Its Lakers time.

Jackson...loudly - Shaq what are we going to do?.

Shaq responds - We are going to kick ass coach !

Jackson - Kobe what is going to happen out there in this first game?

Kobe - We rain 3 s on their heads, and play team ball and we kick their asses into next winter.

Jackson - Ok guys lets get some sleep and dream about this game and this victory.

....................................................................

at least thats what I hope they are saying.

By Scott Howard-Cooper
Special to ESPN.com

All speculation at this time, one fact: The Los Angeles Lakers are the reigning NBA champions.

Until further notice. Until someone climbs over Shaquille O'Neal, corrals Kobe Bryant and knocks the supreme supporting cast from the foundation on the top of that mountain they have ruled for three straight seasons. Until someone earns it away from them.

Another reality being that that's entirely possible. Because while the Lakers still have potential for something tremendous -- you should not be surprised if they land the quad -- you also should not be surprised if they fall to San Antonio in the second round, the Spurs having swept the regular-season series.

Everyone is targeting the Lakers. They're still the story. L.A. losing in any round would be bigger news than, say, if San Antonio loses -- and the Spurs finished with the best record in the league.

The Lakers have the confidence of having been there, going through every degree of difficulty. It's 2003. No one else has won since 1999. Talk about your mental advantages.

mental edge - Lakers I like the sound of that

Minn Timbers

The opponent of the moment, so it's the only one that really matters right now.

Everything good about the Timberwolves stems from their resiliency and ability to lean into the wind. Kevin Garnett is a wonderful talent in Minnesota because he's been committed to trying to make it work in the Twin Cities, instead of pushing for a trade when he took the blame as the first-round losses mounted or when management got stripped of draft choices and cost him a better supporting cast. This season, Minnesota has overcome major injuries -- and in years past the sanctions from the Joe Smith mess and, most chilling of all, the death of Malik Sealy -- to earn home-court advantage in the first round.

Of course, there is the matter of six consecutive postseason appearances bringing six consecutive first-round losses, and a reputation.

"The first three or four, you look at who you played against and the reasons why," guard Anthony Peeler said. "But now, it's at the point where it's no excuse. You've got to make sure you get out (of the first round)."

Said Smith: "It becomes frustrating. I don't think it becomes mental to us, but it becomes frustrating to know that we do everything all season long to secure playoff position, we're capable of beating everybody in the league and we show that every year, except that first round of the playoffs. Something always goes wrong.

"I think it's just being talked about a lot more than what it has been before. But we all put enough pressure on ourselves to go out and win a series to not have to worry about what everybody else is thinking. It's not good what's been happening the last six years. But I think we've all learned from it."

.......................................................................

Yeh they learned this year but not enough to beat the Lakers in a game like this.

moneyline is at -130 at Olympic now. Why is this going up ? Does anyone have a clue ?

Oh yeh but the points are staying the same at -1 1/2 ..........

The moneyline is going up because the Lakers are going to win this game.

They can't move the points as no one would take Minn Timbers then. They want us to think that Minn is the play at home. Well from past memory Minn plays horrible in the playoffs and have never won a first round series.

Pit Minn up against the Lakers who some people were laughing at this year saying the Fakers wont make the playoffs. If Shaq plays tommorrow then this is what happens ;

The Lakers crush !.

Timing of baby won't force Shaq to miss game
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Associated Press

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. -- The wife of Shaquille O'Neal gave birth to a baby boy early Saturday, eliminating the possibility the Los Angeles Lakers center would skip a playoff game to witness the birth.
Shaunie O'Neal gave birth to the couple's third child at 1:52 a.m. at a Los Angeles-area hospital, team spokesman John Black said.

The baby's name is Shaquir Rashaun O'Neal.

O'Neal was excused from Saturday's practice. He was scheduled to fly on his own to Minneapolis late Saturday for Sunday's opening game of a first-round playoff series against the Minnesota Timberwolves, Black said.

"We're really happy for the delivery of a child and the fact that everything's safe and sound and we can go forward from there,'' coach Phil Jackson said. "Hopefully he can get to Minneapolis, get some rest and be ready to play the first game. That's a pivotal game for every team.''

O'Neal had said he could not rule out missing a game to witness the birth. The due date was April 27, the same day as Game 4 of the best-of-seven series between the Timberwolves and the Lakers.

Teammate Kobe Bryant said he would not be surprised if O'Neal had a big game Sunday despite his expected late arrival in Minneapolis.

"You just roll off the adrenaline,'' said Bryant, who scored 48 points in a 2001 playoff game at Sacramento after leaving the team to attend to a personal matter.

The birth comes days after the death of O'Neal's maternal grandfather, Sirlester O'Neal. Funeral services are expected to be held this week in South Carolina, Black said. O'Neal is expected to attend.

The birth of O'Neal's son and death of his grandfather are not a distraction to the Lakers, Bryant said.

"If it was a distraction, it's a distraction that we don't care too much about because his family is obviously more important than the game,'' Bryant said. "We're more than happy to deal with it and do whatever it takes to help him and his family get to a place to have some sort of peace.''

...........................................................

Sounds to me like the Lakers will be ready to play.

Lakers vs Minn starting in two hours.

I am getting kind of nervous now right before game time.

This has alot to do with the reason that I gamble.

At times it even feels like when I was playing basketball. Just before game time that butterfly stomach thing. I always used to have my best games when I puked before hand. I guess everyone goes through it to some extent.

Everything is done now. The electronic end of the wager has been taken care of and properly registered as a play.

Now just the two hour wait until the tip off.

I have thought about not watching the game. You know the one where you go out somewhere on purpose and then one and a half hours you rush into the house and run to the computer to check the scores. Its quicker than trying to find the game on the Direct TV.

OK now Lakers you know what to do. Bring home the money !

OK excuse me now while I go puke.

Good luck to me

GL Scott,

I don't think u have anything to worry about.

Thinking they will make a statement today to minny that this series is there.

This is the Playoffs BABY, and that is all that Lakers live for, they don't give a rats ass about regular season.

I really prefer a game where the Lakers will lead by 20 during the entire game. I know that would probably be too much to ask.

The Laker mentality has to be that not only will we win the first game but we will do it on your home court in front of your own fans. So don't think that you are going to have a chance to beat us in the first game.

At least I hope thats what they are thinking.

OK Lets kick some Timberwolf asses....

Is it a TITFD play?

Is it a TITFD play?

Scott, I wish you the best of luck on the Lakers play. I, however, have 1 unit on Minnesota at +2.5.

[Pretzel Logic]
Lakers have been tearing it up at the end of the season. So why is the defending NBA champion favored by only 2? I was expecting a 5- or even 6-point spread.

Shaq is human (I think). With that said, the birth of his child (not sure if boy/girl here) and his grandfather's passing will have emotional effect on this "superman". Look what happened to the 3 mooks in Milwaukee yesterday. These guys are human. They can't perform under stress.

Enjoy the game.

Seriously Cryboy I have to say I am damn glad to hear you are on Minn. No offense.

The defending champion is only favored by two because they are trying to trick us into taking Minn. I aint falling for it.

Its not a TITFD play but I have alot of my cash riding on this game so it feels like one.

Good Luck
