how can a coach break a contract after being there only one year? Didnt he sign a 4 or 5 yr contract with UT? How can he get out of that after one year?

Pay $800,000. UT should see this as an unexpected windfall, not a disaster. Next year may be rough, but a couple of years down the road, they'll be glad.

PAC 10 is going to be a lot easier than SEC. He can't handle the coaching pressures of the SEC also. I don't blame him.
Would you want to live in Southern Calif. at the beach or in Tenn. I have not been to Tenn but just think LA at the beach may be a bit better? I really hope USC and Tenn. play in the next few years, love to see the Vols. get whacked!!

It better be quick because USC is already in trouble and the NCAA is not going to back off with those two in there.

Like I said yesterday, I said this morning, and will say a year from now - the biggest laugher, joke, whatever is going to be on USC for hiring this baby, because he will get in trouble and will take USC with him.

My bet is when daddy moves on, he will be the fry guy at Jack in the Box, because he will have burned so many bridges along the way.

What is Tenn going to do??

Rumors swirling about Texas losing Muschamp to Tenn.

I doubt he leaves as he makes $1M a year at Texas and has been given the label coach in waiting and Mack said he is good for another 5 yrs max. when Muschamp was told he would be next coach.
Last year Muschamp was in line for the Tenn job and didn't even take the interview as he said he was not ready to be a head coach and he was set up to be the head coach at the greatest job in college football(Texas).
If he didn't even want the interview last year then I doubt he wants it now.

A rival athletic director had this to say on USC's hiring of Lane Kiffin: ``If they get Norm Chow plus Ed Orgeron and Monte Kiffin, Winnie the Pooh could be the head coach.''

Also hearing that UCLA is talking to Leach about being the OC if Chow does indeed leave.

Flapjack - you think this is a good hire? I cannot imagine you would, esp with the possible sanctions that are on the horizon

At first when I just heard Kiffin, I thought "oh no." But, with who he's assembling on his staff, I'd say yes - cautiously optimistic. One thing is for sure. The biggest problem for USC football in the past couple years has without a doubt been the complete draining of talented coordinators and position coaches replaced by nobodies. Its so underrated, but so critically important to the success or failure of a program. Plenty of speculation why they all left and got replaced with extremly inexperienced coaches - was it Carroll's ego that he wanted all the credit, was Carroll tired of losing his guys to bigger jobs and thought less experienced guys would stick around longer and give the program stability? Who knows, but these guys coming in are the guys that made SC great - minus Carroll, plus Monte. Carroll did great things, but they were making some critical errors the last couple years - starting Barkely for one.

If they bring back Tim Davis like its being reported, that is yet another one back in the fold. So, talent at the coaching level will be higher than its been since 2005. How long they all stay together is another matter.

As for sanctions - dont hold your breath for anything too serious on that front. Not too likely to happen. Maybe a few scholarships pulled and some retroactive losses or something specifically aimed at Bush's legacy. Unless there's something big that has not been reported with boosters or coaches involved. SC B Ball took a big hit cause it was looking like Floyd was involved.

So wait just a minute.
You are telling me USC has a baketball team.
Funny because I have never heard any of their fans mention they had one.

Appreciate your answer. I think the biggest concern is Orgeron for you guys. In fact, UT is going after him because he made a conference call to all the early enrollees to NOT attend class today and he would call them when he got to UT. When did he do this? When Kiffin was talking to the players! They are both classless pieces of shit and will get what is coming to them. Daddy won't work forever and he is going to have to come off the teet soon.

One funny story, he was getting ripped on the air this morning and daddy called in to defend him. 34 year old boy that needs his daddy to speak up for him:mj07: :mj07:

I hear you, I would feel jilted if I was a UT fan as well. However, the fact is he was a west coast guy. His wife wanted to get out of there by the reports I heard, and their dream opportunity opened up. As far as Kiffin as a head coach??? Who knows. UT looked improved last year for sure. But, thats not saying alot. And, Kiffin was a wonderkid at USC. If you look at how he moved up in ranks as SC got better and what Chow and Carroll thought of him and how the O did with him in charge and how it crumbled after he left, it would be foolish to think he is not a very strong offensive mind. He's also a great recruiter to boot. I think he proved that in a short time at UT. Add to it the fact that he is a relentless worker, and you have a coach with alot of potential. We will see.

But As for Oregeron, what else do you expect from that guy? He's an animal. He would step on his mother's throat to get to a recruit.

Getting Monte is a bonus.

It could all turn out terrible with all those egos, but who knows?

So Cal
I like the staff but I'm not crazy about Lane running things....I absolutely love Monte as a DC....call me a homer if u like but I think SC improves upon LY's season...

Defense and Offense was a few notch's down from years past..
I think it can improve with this coaching staff....

A earlier post said "with that staff....winnie the pooh could be the coach....I agree...

They all seem to be able to coach, but I would say watch out for Orgeron because he is going to be the next Jerry Tarkanian
