Go to log in this morning...put in my password and my computer is totally frozen.

Tried ctrl alt delete

Tried powering computer on and off

The mouse won't work and neither will the pad.

Suggestions please.

Thanks.

By any chance, are you running Trend Micro for your antivirus? And possibly a separate spy sweeper program?

If so, I was having this same problem. It seems that Trend updated their antivirus program to now include a sweeper program. Then Trend and the sweeper program you already have installed are in contention with each other. If this is the case, you need to reboot in safe mode (which you should be able to do) and remove the sweeper program you had installed previously.

This will fix the problem - assuming that was your problem to begin with.

I am not running Trend Micro.

Later in the day after powering on and off it finally let me log in...no idea why.

Thanks for the idea.
