unbelieveable how bad boston is. no $$ for me as i chose not to bet after the miami/phoenix money trains are resting. bird has to be glad his pacers are moving on, but it has to hurt a little to see how $hitty his former team is 2 decades later from one of his title runs. there does need to be an age limit in the nba period. i don't care how many good young players there are. the reason they look good is because the other players suck. lebron james is a very good player, but he would be nothing if he had to face the pistons of the 80's/90's defence. heck, i think pippen could have held him to under 20 by himself. not bashing lebron, but trying to illustrate how weak a product we have these days. :cursin:

totally agree with you Elvis--i have said for the last 3 years how far the NBA has fallen in terms of good basketbal. Not even close to the 80's thru early 90's teams.I am a diehard Laker fan but the Shaq and Kobe teams,Spurs with Duncan.Piston's etc...Would get blown out by the old Laker Bulls Celtic's Piston's 6er teams if only for 1 reason being is that all the old teams just played great team basketbal and were so smart and effiecient...Those of you that are the same age as me (45) or around there know we got to see some of the best all at 1 time...Look how many great great ballplayers have retired in the last 10-15 yrs in all major sports..Lot of good ballplayers gone and not near the players stepping up to be the next great one.

I also agree, a lot of players without the basics of the game, the team work is not the same, also the great players of today are selfish, moroons and stupid arrogants, I know we have some exceptions (1 or 2), of course talking about starts, not about hard working players who year over year are improving.

But I also have to say that the College Basketball is part of this problem, to much uneducated athletes are going out, getting all what they need, going to school just because is a plataform, not to learn about life and basketball, a lot of undergraduated without any king of love to their school or anybody just th emoney!

I disagree. I think the Celtics future looks very bright. Al Jefferson, the rookie out of high school looks to become a huge superstar. Important to have superstars down low and this guy is a big time low post player. I really liked how he played in the playoffs against Indiana and against J. Oneal. Remember, this guy is SUPER YOUNG!

Pierce is a great talent but still immature. It will be up to Doc Rivers to shape him up. I think a good move by Boston is to get rid of A. Walker. He stalls the offense.

Look at how well Boston played in game 4 on the road @Indiana without Walker. Pierce played like a superstar and Boston had great ball movement. I think Walker hurts Pierce's game.

Boston should have beaten a depleted Indiana squard but after game 2 Indiana seemed to get healthy and healthier as the series went on. Thats why I think Boston lost the series when they blew game 2 @Boston. Can't do that. :cursin:

IMO, Boston's future looks very bright. This is coming from a guy who lost $2,500 on this team AND could have potentially lost $10,000. If anything, i should be bitter. Next year Rivers have his his VERY inexperienced players this season be somewhat exerpeinced next year. If they get rid of Walker, this will be a young and very athletic team. Should have good solid season next year. Remember, Boston kicked a$$ in the last 2 months of this season. When the young players finally matured. Walker was a nice jumpstart to the Celtic season but showed why he is not a great fit in Boston. Boston will be good next year!

youre absolutely right in saying the overall product is much weaker compared to the mid-80s and early-90s. but lebron james would score 30 on anyone, at any time, in any era. when he first came into the league i was skeptical. didnt think he shot the ball well enough. but its pretty disgusting how good that kid is after seeing some games in-person from seats just a couple rows back. his first step is every bit as good as jordan's. now he's nowhere near the complete player jordan was -- especially in terms of his OWN defense. but in terms of scoring, theres not a player in the last 20 years that could keep him from consistently getting 25. the pistons are considered to be the only team in the nba that plays "throwback defense" and lebron had games of 43, 29, and 37 against them this year. again, your general point is right on the money. but lebron/mcgrady/kobe are the only 'exceptions' to most rules

scott, i pity the celtics. i have nothing personal against them, but that is a bad team. paul pierce is either overrated or on the wrong team. will not argue about al jefferson. he appears to be talented, but we will get to watch him develope - he may be really good at some point.

gman2, maybe i was a little hasty throwing out what i did about lebron - he is very good. his outside shot is much improved from the rookie year. he is on a bad team. the few games i have seen him in he was impressive. he appears to be quicker and stronger than most. he receives little help from the others. however, the defense played by the pistons of today and the bad boys is totally different. the bad boys had so many guys that would d up. the pistons of today play very good d at times, but they don't have the depth of quality big men the former team had. i will give you that lebron would be good in any era though. i wish we had him in memphis - we need a go to player badly. i may be wrong, but i do thunk pippen would have been a challenge for lebron. personally did not like pippen all that much, but he was an extremely versatile defender.

Biggest difference

great players are coachable and WANT to be coached

today

shiet teams like Boston have NO interest in being coached

Teams like this can have 10 LaBron's on them and will be easy prey for a team with less talent but a good coach with coachable players that play team ball, not school yard crap.

I love watching Boston shiet the bed. Pierce sucks. Most over rated player in the league. His teams will never go anywhere!

Walker is the 2nd piece of garbage, right after Pierce. Their organization has gone down hill and is nothing of what it once was.

I watched that puke game Thursday night. I have NEVER SEEN A WORSE DISPLAY of basketball in my life! They should have stopped the game in the third quarter, reimbursed the fans and advertisers, got the money from the players for this, and sent them home.

Can't believe you left out Orlando!! That is one screwed up team. These days it's all about the Bling and hip-hop gangsta crap. NFL going the same way.

I hate the NBA.....it doesn't help of course that I can't pick a winner to save my life!!

I had to chime in to agree also...those lakers and celtice teams had just about zero weak spots. Todays teams seem to only want to isolate one player in a set play..might be just the game is played differently but the lakers could have had a set play for any one of 4 players that would not be defendable.
