BYU(10-2)"51%" vs Oregon(7-5)"49%"
Oregon- 31ppg..................BYU-36ppg
Oregon- 10th pass Def..........BYU-4th pass Off
Oregon- 11th rush Off..........BYU-35th rush Def
Line opened at 6 and as settled at BYU-3

This is BYU's 2nd consecutive Las Vegas Bowl appearance losing 35-28 to Cal and Marshawn Lynch last year....Can Jonathan Stewart be the 06 version?? Last year BYU and Cal entered the game with almost identical stats as this years game and its not uncommon for MWC teams to outplay the all mighty Pac 10.....in 2001 Utah over USC and in 2004 Wyoming over UCLA

Plenty of work to be done on this game yet....my intial lean is Oregon, a healthy Stewart makes this Offense go especially playing against a 3-4......BYU ran a 3-3-5 last year.......if Oregon can establish the ground game and take the ball out of the hands of the Beck to Harline connection there is a shot Oregon comes away with a victory as there Pass defense is one of the better in the country

also, Oregon is 5-1 when they outrush there opp. and 2-4 when they are outrushed....lone loss was a 2pt loss at Oregon St....

Body of Work
BYU- loss to pac 10 @Arizona 16-13, loss at ACC Boston College 30-23, both early in the season, Wins at TCU 31-17, Utah 33-31 and a blewout Wyoming 55-7.....won 9 straight

Oregon- loss 3 straight....also loss @Cal,@USC and @wash st...notable wins 30-20 over UCLA, 34-33 over Okla and 48-13 over AZ state

Oregon started off hot and sputtered down the stretch, the direct opposite of BYU who played tough in the beginning but suffered 2 early losses and is now unblemished 9 times in a row.....

will the 2nd time around in the Las Vegas Bowl treat them better?.....Oregon lost last year to Oklahoma 17-14 in the Holiday Bowl and has lost 3 straight Bowl games, will they snap that streak?

I'll sleep on it

Thanks TP...you too

well there are some good threads going about this game which is good.the more info the better

marra brings up a good pt about the head coach for byu and the previous head coach who is now been the O coordinator for the ducks the past 2 seasons.....favors BYU

AR brings up a good point about the height and speed of the Oregon DUcks receivers and the secondary issues for BYU...favors Oregon

there was only one common opponent for these 2 teams and that was Arizona......i look at these not for a scoring standpoint but to see how the offenses and defenses fared............

so throw the scores out..........

BYU @Arizona game #1 of the season
Offense: 28/37 289 yds passing 1td.....
18 carries for 46 yards......not including Beck 5 for minus 15
9 different receivers caught passes
Defense: 1 int, 2 sacks, 186yds passing, 67 rushing

Arizona @Oregon game #11
offense: 25/42 183 yds 4int's
26 carries 163 yards 1td........
Oregon had 6 turnovers total
Defense: 3 sacks....133 yds passing...230 rushing

Dont expect a ground game from BYU and you can count on BYU being able to spread the ball out to an array of different receivers, but if Oregon does not turn this ball over they are in this til the end and if their D can get a few stops...Stewart and Johnson should be able to run through BYU like Lynch and Forsett.......I'm still on the fence

alot of people are saying over....last year same game, byu-cal 63 pts scored.....i'm leaning under in this game, alot of dinking and dunking by BYU and run,run for Oregon

should of stayed with just my original under play but hindsight is 20/20.......can't comment on the game b/c I only got to see the last 10 mins of the 4th quarter, from what I saw, looked like BYU could do whatever they pleased

the big uglies up front from a stat viewpoint looks like they controlled the game, that was a fear of mine, my underestimation of their ground game, which was pretty solid.....anyway, stayed positive for the night which was good

(3-2) +1.7
