BYU(10-2)"51%" vs Oregon(7-5)"49%"
Oregon- 31ppg..................BYU-36ppg
Oregon- 10th pass Def..........BYU-4th pass Off
Oregon- 11th rush Off..........BYU-35th rush Def
Line opened at 6 and as settled at BYU-3
This is BYU's 2nd consecutive Las Vegas Bowl appearance losing 35-28 to Cal and Marshawn Lynch last year....Can Jonathan Stewart be the 06 version?? Last year BYU and Cal entered the game with almost identical stats as this years game and its not uncommon for MWC teams to outplay the all mighty Pac 10.....in 2001 Utah over USC and in 2004 Wyoming over UCLA
Plenty of work to be done on this game yet....my intial lean is Oregon, a healthy Stewart makes this Offense go especially playing against a 3-4......BYU ran a 3-3-5 last year.......if Oregon can establish the ground game and take the ball out of the hands of the Beck to Harline connection there is a shot Oregon comes away with a victory as there Pass defense is one of the better in the country
also, Oregon is 5-1 when they outrush there opp. and 2-4 when they are outrushed....lone loss was a 2pt loss at Oregon St....
Body of Work
BYU- loss to pac 10 @Arizona 16-13, loss at ACC Boston College 30-23, both early in the season, Wins at TCU 31-17, Utah 33-31 and a blewout Wyoming 55-7.....won 9 straight
Oregon- loss 3 straight....also loss @Cal,@USC and @wash st...notable wins 30-20 over UCLA, 34-33 over Okla and 48-13 over AZ state
Oregon started off hot and sputtered down the stretch, the direct opposite of BYU who played tough in the beginning but suffered 2 early losses and is now unblemished 9 times in a row.....
will the 2nd time around in the Las Vegas Bowl treat them better?.....Oregon lost last year to Oklahoma 17-14 in the Holiday Bowl and has lost 3 straight Bowl games, will they snap that streak?
I'll sleep on it
