As soon as the Texas A&M vs.Texas game is over next Friday, I hopping on a plane and heading out to Vegas for nine freaking nights. I know that sounds like a long time to be in Sin City but during the middle five days, I will be occupied with the annual Autodesk Conference. This year I am a presenter and will be giving a lecture on some stuff that you guys would all find very boring so I won?t even bother going into it.

Staying at the Venetian and will be free both weekends from Friday through Sunday to get together with any of you guys who happen to be out there during this time. Let me know and the first couple are on me if we can meet up.

I might be out there this coming weekend. I'm not afraid to throw a few back with a man of the law...

Pretty impressive list of sponsors Gregg--which topic will you be lecturing on--
Autodesk is the company that owns AutoCAD which is by far the most widely used computer drafting software in the world. They have in the past couple of years made tremendous progress with their Revit line of software which is a Building Information Modeling tool. My firm is at the forefront of this dynamic shift in our industry and I will be presenting a seminar.

Pretty boring stuff unless you are me, LOL. I do intend to get in some gambling time before and after the conference.

"Revit?s native file extension is ?.rvt?. The latest version, Revit 6.1, can export a BIM to gbXML (Green Building eXtensible Markup Lauguage) (Autodesk 2004a). gbXML is now maintained by the Building Performance & Analysis (BPA) Working Group of aecXM (Architecture/Engineering/Construction XML), under the roof of the International Alliance for Interoperability ? North America Chapter (gbXML 2004 and IAI 2004)." (Tse, Wong and Wong, 2005) :com:

I'll stick to looking at the Brittany pictures.

Still not sure when I'll be motoring into LV---I'll keep ya posted!.....I do prefer Brandy Alexanders over White Russians

I'll be expecting to hear from you TRay. Will be on my way to the airport as soon as the Texas game is over.

Anyone else that's going to be out in Vegas, drop me a line and we can meet up. I'll be in town until December 3rd.

After spending three nights in this hole, it is clear why they were offering such a great deal.

No soap or shampoo in my room when I checked in nor was there the usual info on the hotel so I could figure out where everything was such as restaurants, "spa" (lmao), etc. Dirty ashtray with butts on the counter by the TV and the trashcan beneath the desk had not been emptied. I immediately began to wonder about the sheets.

Called downstairs to alert management about these "oversights" and was connected with housekeeping who said they would bring up some soap and shampoo. When I had not seen anyone in an hour, I called to make sure they would indeed be bringing some up and was told, "of course". I asked that they also unlock the mini-bar when they eventually came up and was told that there was nothing in it. I have never stayed at a casino that did not want to rape it's guests for $9.00 shots of liquor but I figured, what the hell.

Downstairs, I encountered one of the largest collection of misfits ever assembled had been left to the responsibility of beverage service at this fine establishment. All of the chicks had stuffed their fat asses into skimpy outfits designed for Nicole Ritchie and I will not go into the details regarding my constant attempts to avoid any kind of contact with this legion of trolls. Off to the Hard Rock for me where I had a great time.

When I came back to my room, I found that the items I had requested had indeed been dropped off. In the middle of my bed were two plastic bags containing five shower caps, six body lotion containers, six bars of facial soap, four bars of bath soap and eight containers of shampoo. Ashtray and garbage can were as I had originally found them.

I immediately called and asked for the hotel manager on duty upon whom I delivered one of my best drunken tirades in years. The manager, who's extremely thick Asian accent I could barely understand, seemed to be genuinely horrified and mentioned something along the lines regarding appropriate torture for the head of housekeeping.

Needless to say, I have not spent much time here the past three days and am getting ready to check out and head over to The Venetian for four nights where I hope that things are a bit nicer.

Despite the fact that the Hilton is a hole, I am surprisingly having a wonderful time. The next four days will be mostly filled with conference stuff but I am looking forward to Thursday night when I can enjoy myself. The last two nights in town (Friday & Saturday), I will be staying at the Hard Rock which should finish off a very long week nicely.

OK, just got settled into my room at The Venetian and this is the nicest room I have seen in Las Vegas including many of the suites at other hotels. Let's just say that if you took the kitchen and second bathroom out of my condo, this place would be just about two thirds the size. Sunken living room with couch, two chairs, medium size dining table, nice wooden desk with printer and armoire with a second 42" television and mini-bar. The bathroom is actually three different rooms with toilet in one, shower and bathtub in another and a double lavatory vanity in the main part. From the window I have a nice view of the strip and about now I am thinking that I could probably live here comfortably.

Off to the tables and to check out the talent. :11jackson

Judge -

Sorry to hear about the Hilton. Sorry for pointing it out to you, even though I was just for the rate. Right on w/the venetian. It's my favorite hotel in Vegas to stay at - but I only do when they offer they run their $99 mini-suite on travelzoo which occurs very seldom (maybe once or twice a year).

I hope you have a blast the rest of your trip and really enjoy reading these trip reports.:D:):D

Had fine time with da Judge at Hard Rock, winding down the day with a few drinks and some good conversation. Here he is getting ready to upload the above post

Hard Rock now has a nice little lounge on other side of wall from the sportsbook---bar, tables and booths to sit at with yer cell phones and laptops, tho sportsbook and betting lines just four steps away. Will be excellent location for a day of college football!

after the drinks I went across street for some good heavy German food at the Hofbrauhaus, specially evolved over millennia to soak up too much booze. This is the sausage plate I ate, the "Hofbrauhaus Wurstplatte". The imported sauerkraut was the best part!
