Here some sites for tips on preparing a visit to Las Vegas.

please add your favorites!

Official site of Sunset Station/Casino

McCarran Airport terminal guide, starting with map

Taxi one-way to/from Strip/Sunset Station costs about $35 (including the tip).

Sunset Station also runs an airport shuttle to/from Casino every hour

Strip shuttle info.

Twice a day, seven days a week, departs Sunset Station 12:00 pm and 6:00pm.

Departs Tropicana Casino/Hotel to Sunset Station 12:30 and 6:30 pm.

for those more cheap and without a car, there is a city bus that stops at the mall across the street from Sunset Station and runs straight to Las Vegas Blvd south (from there you transfer to the Strip bus, which runs every 10 mins all the way up Strip to downtown). Info on the #212 Sunset bus here, scroll down to #212

Guide to that mall, the Galleria at Sunset

Best page I've seen of gambling advice and strategy for all games in the casino

Various links and webpages of LV area casinos/hotels, golf courses and stuff.

One of the best sites for various LV info, such as tipping guide in this list of stuff, and a guide to topless clubs

How to enter some topless bars free, and get nearly free booze too!

Guide to Brothels in NV, which includes pictures of Kylie at Sheri's (just outside of LV).

And for the ladies Male Dancer cabaret

On the course!
I rented a full size car from Avis for $20 a day Fr-Mon.

Cheaper than a cab ride, but then again......I don't drink!

Thanks sennor ;)

If we are walking funny on Sunday you'll know why :D

Vegas is great , but one year being out there I let fletcher talk me into sight seeing , which I personally hate to do, vacation to me is laying in the sun drinking, gambling, shopping , anything else is work :D I can't even put into words what some of those sights did for me. Other than getting altitude sickness I loved every second of it .It made my whole trip...............

9 of us are gonna ride threw there :D

Thanks again, see ya soon dance2

I like the picture on the horse riding site.

Looks like you have to wear a helmet to ride! (Ahhhhh......The feel of the Old West.)

horseback riding!? with all the gambling, clubs and shows here--it's easy to forget the other stuff to do nearby. Boating, birdwatching , hiking, visit ghostowns, lotta western history, visiting gravesites of the famous , rent Harleys and exotic cars (Ferrari 360 Spyder $1149/day!), Richard Petty Driving experience, Carroll Shelby plant and museum, firing ranges you can rent a machine gun , Guggenheim-Hermitage Museum , Bellagio Gallery of Art and so on...

----below is schedule for airport shuttle Sunset Station runs

---also here is list and rough location of nearby businesses

Cheapest cigarettes in area conveniently located at Dotty's Casino across east parking lot. Exit doors in Sunset Station just down hallway from reception desk, across from Sunset Cafe (you catch shuttles here too). Step outside and you can see at edge of parking lot "Dotty's Casino" sign on backside of business strip building. Marlboro $2.70/pack and $26.99/carton. Misty and Pall Mall, $2.24/pack. Dotty's ("open all night") is a strange chain of slot rooms that are decorated like your grandma's livingroom, with flower print table cloths and framed sewing samplers on wall. If you ever become comfortable gambling here it's time for a bullet to the brain.

ratpack300.jpg

next to Dotty's is Carl Jr's, UMC urgent care hospital, Atlanta bread and bakery cafe, Red Lobster and Del Taco. In this parking lot there is Wal-Mart super center, Wendy's, 99cent store (cheapest toiletries), Lowe's, Pro Golf, Party City, Office Depot, Chevron w/self-serve car wash, and In-and-Out Burger.

also here is tiny parasite casino "Klondike Casino" (next to Garfield's restaurant and pub). Klondike does has a sportsbook size of a closet that is run by Leroy's. Leroy's has outlets all over the valley, so if you are staying elsewhere and place a bet here, you can cash it at any Leroy's location thru out area (on strip at Riviera, Sahara and Tropicana casinos, for example). This Leroy's also has an automated sportbetting kiosk that offers more options (esp in golf and car racing) and minimum $2 bets ($5 min most everywhere, except parlay cards). Sometimes different lines than Station Casino, tho now both have Pats -6.5, o/u 38.

across Sunset street from this is Best Buy, Home Depot, Super Pawn, Big and Tall, BBQ Galore, Super Cuts, Blimpie Subs, Jo Ann, Bed Bath and beyond, Petco, Costo, Just for Feet, Sports Chalet, and Panda Express with Starbucks just up side street.

in next block over from above is (infront of Galleria Mall) Panera Bread, Sports Clips, China Star Buffet, and Buffalo Wild Wings.

at edge of west parking lot of Sunset Station is Chipotle Mexican Grille, cheezteak, cold stone creamery, Pei Wei asian diner and take out (Fletcher sez is very good ), and Mimi's cafe (the Pier 49 Pizza isn't open yet).

on next block is Port O Sub's, Einstein's Bagels, Borders Books, Wells Fargo Bank, Applebee's. up this side street is Barnes and Noble, Circuit City, Burlington Coats, TJ Maxx, Pier 1 imports, Comp USA, Office Max, and Copeland Sports.

across Sunset street from all this, beside the mall, is Kinko's (next to Linen n things), McDonalds, then Target, Vons (grocery store), Toys r us and Bank of America.

another block up Sunset road is Sears auto center and Sav On drugs open 24hrs.

several fine restaurants in Sunset Station offering excellent value (a specialty of Station Casinos), and fast food too. Really no reason to leave (but I like a walk). The buffet is one of the best buffet values in area now--especially if you get in line bit before 11am and then get lunch at breakfast price ($5.33 with tax).

---------Sunset Station Casino to Airport Shuttle---------

leaves Casino 7am, 8am, 9am, 11am, 1pm, 2pm, 3pm, 4pm, 5pm, 6pm, 7pm, 8pm, 9pm, 10pm.

departs Airport back to Casino at 730am, 830am, 930am, 1130am, 130pm, 230pm, 330pm, 430pm, 530pm, 630pm, 730pm, 830pm, 930pm and 1030pm.

saturdays--leave Casino 11am, 1pm, 2pm 4pm and 5pm....departs airport 1130am, 130pm, 230pm, 430pm, 530pm)

Shuttle picks up at airport from Airport Ground Zero Level directly across from bus stall #23. Service is complimentary, but be sure to tip a few bucks.

Shuttle picks up at Sunset Station outside exit doors just down hallway from reception desk ( hallway that goes to room elevators and our ballroom for Superbowl Party), across from Sunset Cafe.

the Hooter's restaurant just off the sportsbook (that a coincidence?) if offering happy hour wings $2.99 and Bud draft $2.50.

Gonna be very sunny and 60 this weekend!

Gonna be very sunny and 60 this weekend!

Internet Service at Sunset Station:

same as last year, dial-up with keyboard offered in each room thru TV for $5.95/2 hrs. Slow but works.

I exit front doors and stroll across Sunset road to Kinkos. It's next to Linen 'n Things. Free broadband surfing with your own notebook. But $12/hr (20 cents/min) using their computers. Open 24 hrs.

T-Mobile hotspots in the area.

The first officially sanctioned Hofbrauhaus outside of Germany will be open. It's across from the Hard Rock.

On the subject of drinking places with imported interiors, food, chefs, and drinks from abroad--one of the best here is Nine Fine Irishmen Pub inside NYNY Casino.

if these places too fancy-shmancy, here's a guide to best dive bars in town.
