Owners and potential buyers, be advised, all GM front wheel drive and AWD models equiped with 6T70 & 6T75 6-speed automatic transmissions are prone to a broken 3-5-R clutch wave plate(3rd-5th-Reverse range).
This includes the following GM Models optioned with RPOs MH2,MH4,MH6, or MY6:
2008-2009 Buick Enclave, 2008-2009 Chevrolet Equinox & Malibu, 2009 Chevrolet Traverse, 2007-2009 GMC Acadia, 2007-2009 Pontiac G6, 2008-2009 Torrent, 2007-2009 Saturn Aura & Outlook 2008-2009 Saturn Vue.
Debris & shavings from the wave plate failure requires disassembly of transmission and cleaning. IF transmission damage is severe enough transmission replacement may be needed.
THE GOOD NEWS, this repair is covered under GM 5 YEAR/100,000 mile powertrain warranty with no deductable. See your dealer for further info.
This is not a recall/campaign to the best of my knowledge, but there is a specific GM TSB (Technical Service Bulletin) on the condition, cause, correction and coverage.
