played unlv myself.
just some numbers. perhaps some can apply this to their decision
free throw %:
utah.....67% have been extremely inconsistent on the road shooting FTs. have had some games of 80ish%, but twice have shot under 30%
vegas..68% their main guys are solid. their reserves are the clangers. but the guys who get the minutes are solid. 3 of top 4 guys shoot better than 75%.
3pt %
utah....41% (good 3pt shooting tm when they get clean looks)
vegas..32%
utes hold a big edge here, but have had better 3pt shooting gms at home than on the road
rebounding:
utah....bogut is the only one who hits the glass....10+ boards a game for him. nobody else avgs more than 4.5. not a particularly good rebounding team. seems princeton-style teams are all the same. great perimeter teams who shoot well but get beat on the glass
vegas...not particularly great either, but better than utah... blankson avgs 10+ a few other guys are capable of working the glass
streaks
utah.....won 6 in a row heading into tonight
vegas...won 4 in a row heading into tonight
recent meetings:
mwc tourney in unlv.....vegas wins 64-41. unlv ran utes right out of the gym. unlv established their pace early and utah was done
last yr reg season in unlv...unlv up 30-36 at half...utah wins 66-63. vegas dominated 1h and had some big leads. utes controlled the 2h and led by upwards of 10 pts. unlv made a late push but utah hung on
last yr reg season in utah...utah won 86-80...very tight game throughout. utah led by a basket or two the whole game. never really pulled away. nobody had a significant lead.
