Maple Leafs sign Trevor Kidd

Pat Quinn, general manager and head coach, announced Monday that the Toronto Maple Leafs have agreed to terms on a multi-year contract with unrestricted free agent goaltender Trevor Kidd. In keeping with club policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed.
At 6-foot-2, 210 pounds, Kidd appeared in 33 games for Florida last season and had a record of 4-16-5 with a 3.21 goals against average to go along with one shutout. Kidd stopped a season-high 48 of 50 shots in a 2-2 tie April 6 at Toronto.
The native of Dugald, Manitoba, set career-highs in goals against average (2.17) and save percentage (.922) during the 1997-98 campaign. He finished tied for second in the NHL in save percentage and tied for fifth in goals against average the same year. In 1994-95, Kidd led the league in games played (43) and minutes (2463) during the shortened NHL season and set a career-high in wins (22). In 1996-97, he set a career-high in games played with 55.
In 353 career NHL games, Kidd has a record of 128-147-48 with a 2.81 goals against average to go along with 18 shutouts. He was a member of the 1992 Canadian Olympic team that won a Silver medal and was named the 1990 Canadian Major Junior Goaltender of the Year. Kidd, 30, was originally Calgary's first choice, 11th overall in the 1990 NHL Entry Draft.
