Brother Dogs,

When's the old lady coming over?

Those CDs will be tough to learn the spoken word if she already has a working knowledge. Best way to do it is to just engage in conversations. I don't think they have English for Rednecks on CD, yet!:tongue They just don't give us our due respect!

In Atlanta, they have classes for conversational English for foreigners, but that is probably due to how large it is here. I bet you could find something around there if you looked hard enough.

Been here since 2-1 Have no prob communicating whatsoever but she has hard time with TV programs when they speak fast.
Flipped it over to ESPN the other day and they had an "african American" being interviewed by another and she said "What language is that"---told her I couldn't help with interpretation there as I could not understand either.:D

Dogs- this worked for Oy. She found some easy to understand-language and plot wise- movies and watched them over and over again. It would have drove me crazy, but I set up a spare bedroom for her TV, VCR, DVD & Satelitte Dish. She also loves to watch reruns such as "Full House." This really helped her.
And I'll add a link if you want to look into a Satelitte Dish. I got it a few years ago and its got about 150 channels from all over the world, i.e., Iran, China- don't know which channels have which dialects, Israel, etc. There are also English Language Learning broadcasts, but we only watch 2 channels broadcast live from Bangkok. Let me know if I can be of any help...

Try some CDs from "Pimsleur". Not sure if they have English for Chinese, but they have a great product.

Studied Russian and Spanish using those cds. Highly recommended.

Thanks Otro I did search on net and came to same conclusion that it is premier software for foreign language--but expensive.!!
That was one reason for my post is I thought someone might have it and not need it any more and give ole dogs a discount:)

Did you check ebay? Items like this are usually availble there at a pretty good rate. Most things are not worth it there, though.
