The kid had great stuff, they can't catch up with that fastball, why change up a good thing just because that's how baseball is now, why bring in Todd Jones?

This is how baseball is now, regardless of the circumstances if you go into the 9th with a lead you bring in your closer. Todd Jones give me doubts, I don't know if he can handle the pressure.
Leland said the exact same thing before the series started. He doesn't want to wear the kid out. He's sticking to what he has done all year.
Well, it worked out great for Leland, Todd Jones pulled through, but if he blew this one and the way Zumaya just blew away Shef, Giambino and A-Rod it would have been a questionable call. He is a rookie though you can't expect the kid to pitch into the 9th inning.
I think if they were not playing tomorrow an arguement can be made to leave him in. I live in Detroit and to be honest, I can't remember a tieme all year Lelend leaving Zumaya in for the 9th (unless it was tied or they were down).
I'm not a big fan of Todd Jones or the 3 man finish that the Tigers have ran with, but it got them this far. I don't see why they don't use Zumaya as a 2 inning closer and then rest him 2 days.
"Johnnycakes" Jones always makes it scary. I don't think he's ever had a 1-2-3 inning in a close game. That said, he's pitched very well in the 2nd half. Rodney has been the one who has struggled bad lately.
Huge game tonight. If Tigs can knock Johnson out early, I think they score 10+.
If the Yanks go down 2-1, does Torre really send Wright out there on Saturday?
