Fletcher is exactly right about who pays the bills in Div 1 colleges. A perfect example he gave was University of Tennessee. One of my best buds has season tickets. Every year he is REQUIRED to send in a $500 DONATION as a booster, just to have the ability to purchase his season tickets. Without this donation, he does not get to buy the season tickets, which are $38 a game to sit 8 rows from the field. I think is a terrible view, if theaction is not right on this goal line, you have no depth perception. With 8 home games, this adds up to over $1600 a year to see college atheletics, which adds up to over $200 per game. Then you figure expenses to drive from Nashville to Knoxville. These figures are outrageous!! When you figure that the UT stadium holds 107,000 people to every game, you add up how much money this program makes for the university. How much do you think the price of a scholarship adds up to, plus the amount of coaches salaries? These are low priced seats. If you jusr used a small number of $1000 per seat per year and 107,000 seats, this program is pulling in over $100,000,000 per year for the university. This does not include the refreshments or clothing apparel.
Now you look at costs for a professional team. I have season tickets for the Tennessee Titans. We had to pay a one time fee of $1000 a seat for the LIFETIME usage of my seats. This happens in all of the new stadiums, is called a Permanent Seat License{PSL}, and is used to help the financing of the stadium as well as other reasons. My seats are $40 a game per seat, which adds up to $800 a year for 8 regular season games a year plus two exhibition games. My seats are also on the 40 yard line!! I also have my own seat with a cup holder. Most college stadiums are sitting on aluminum benches!! Now this team has only 67,000 seats and a payroll of of nearly $70,000,000 a year to pay!! The Titans are a lucky franchise in that every ticket is sold within one hour for the entire season. We also have over 56,000 season ticket holders

It is hard to figure out how many of the NFL teams even survive.
My point is, I agree with Fletcher in the major college football teams pay for the revenue of the entire university. This includes those snooty, higher than thou professors and administrators that go out of their way to cause dispruption to athletes and the program. These athletes pay THEIR salaries!!!
Also, these private schools have been giving so-called scholarships for years to athletes to come to the schools. How do you think a school with 200 students can vow for national championships? When was the last time a public school won the national championship? Some of these private schools have tuitions of over $15,000 a year and you have inner city kids attending. I am sure the parents living in subsidized housing are paying these fees. They use these kids for there abilities.
Lebron James is the best high school player maybe in history. He did a favor to a store promotion that made them way more money from his appearance than accepting a couple of jerseys.
Good grief, in another year his will be the most popular selling jersey in the NBA
