I'd say he's far from the best. Half of what he does is just power to the rim and he either scores or if there is any contact whatsoever, he goes to the line.

You can't stop him b/c he's an unbelievable athlete and you can't defend him. If you have position, its still a foul. No matter what you do on defense, its either let him score or a foul.

He is great but its very similar to Wade. He either scores or gets fouled...or both. No matter what. What can you do????

Jordan...Kobe...Bird....all of them are way better.

Why are Jordan, Kobe, and Bird way better???

Lebron would abuse any of the above in a game of 1 on 1... further more, Lebron is twice the specimen of each player listed.

Now, I will say Lebron is lacking rings, but he's still young and will win a few over time. Let's not forget, it took Michael until his late 20's to start winning rings. Lebron will start winning rings soon!

Just sick of seeing Lebron put his head down like he's a running back and go charging to the goal and if there's any contact its a foul.

I know other players get the benefit of calls but I've never seen someone get them his entire career.

He's a lot like a very athletic Shaq. Runs people over and goes to the line. I can't stand him.

Kobe is oh so close to Jordan. I never ever thought anyone would get anywhere near Jordan and that said, my bias may never let me rank Kobe ahead...but he's there.

I put Bird there b/c he had the size at 6'9 and could just do everything. One of best shooters ever, absolute clutch shooter, great passer, good defender, good rebounder, hustle stats, leader, etc.

I can't put Bird with Jordan and Kobe b/c he just didn't have the athleticism they do. But he's still close in my book. Won the MVP 3 times in a row. One advantage Bird did have though was that he played for a great team his whole career and didn't have to build a team around him. I think we'd be saying even more about his career if Len Bias doesn't die.

Lebron not even in the same breath with those 3 guys. Don't get me wrong...he is damn good and going to be one of the greatest ever...but at least at this point....no comparison.

Lebron doesnt even belong in the same class as Jordan Bird, Magic, and Kobe. If Lebron bulled his way to the basket against the old Piston teams like he did last night he would have left on a stretcher. He cried when the Wizards fouled him hard in the playoffs a few years ago. If you noticed last night at the end Lebron was takin the ball out of bounds because they didnt want him at the line. Do you think Jordan, Kobe, or Bird would put the game in someone elses hands? He doesnt have that killler instinct like the other 4 I listed.

How old are you?

Lebron is a great player but until he wins a championship he is not one of the greatest.

And even after he wins one still behind Magic and Jordan and Kobe and many others.

think you are right on target with everything you say, except you forgot magic. And I'm from Boston.
Russell has to be in the conversation somewhere also. His statistics are ridiculous, problem is we are little to young to remember him.

How do you know all of this?

Maybe Lebron flounders in Phil Jackson's offense?

Maybe Kobe in an offense where he is the #1 #2 and #3 scoring threat puts up over 40+ a game.

I agree with everything you said and I am a huge Jordan fan. Kobe is a better shooter than Jordan and Kobe has that same killer instinct.

Gm, I also agree with everything TJ said, where do you place magic?
Kobe & MJ were/are so athletically gifted, but they also had the heart of champions. Magic and Bird physically weren't as gifted, especially Bird, but they were such (I'll call it cerebral) players. Few if any understood and mentally played the game like magic & Bird.
Magic and Bird made their teammates infinitely better than they were. Guys like Dennis Johnson, and Parish were average players with other teams. Bird made them exceptional players. Magic did the same. Although all of them are in the greatest 10 ever, it's not so easy to compare them, because they all had slightly different attributes that made them the best.

I place Magic in the top 5. He was a great player and made everyone around him better. He was a winner and did whatever had to to win. If he needed to score 30 he could or he could get 15 assists. Hell he even played center when Jabbar was out in the finals. The league was so much better in the 80's before all the expansion. Some of the teams now are just awful. I'm just not a Lebron fan and I think he is overhyped. IMO hes no better than guys like Dr. J, Drexler, Wilkins, Worthy, and Pippen who all played against better competition and in a more stacked league.

Lebron will start winning rings once he's outta Cleveland.....He won't win one with that organization IMO. He needs better supporting cast and don't think it'll ever happen there. Shaq is past his prime and has his rings.
