On teaching women players:

"I love the ladies, believe me. I used to teach them. I got voted in North Texas one time as the best lady teacher in the business. The reason I got voted is I told the girls, 'I'll start you out on the irons, and work you right into the woods.'"

He is like a breath of fresh air in golf. Someone who actually looks like he enjoys playing.

My two favorites are Trevino and Chi-Chi.

Heard a story where Chi-Chi returns to Puerto Rico and rounds up several kids (not sure on an exact number and we're talkin' dirt poor street urchins). He contacts their parents and asks permission to take them to the U.S for a few days. No money is needed. Once he had the okay, he gets on the phone and makes a phone call to New York:

Chi-Chi: "Nelson, this is Chi-Chi. We're ready."

Nelson: "So am I. I'll meet you at the airport."

Chi-Chi arranged for these Puerto Rican kids to spend a few days at the Rockefeller Estate (Just for a change of scenery.)

Gotta' admire a guy who remembers his roots.
