AS soon as government stops steeling from the SS fund we have enough for around 86 years. And if they every pay back any that they took last 40 years its good for over 100. SO reform of some type may be needed. But lets start buy holding government accountable. Next let's take anyone who did not retire. But gets SS because Dad Died at young age the hell off SS. And no one gets any SS if they have not payed in at least 15 years. This crap someone decides to go work for 5 years and gets SS is B S.
I say drill in Alaska. But only if it all stays here. NO more 35% to Asia like today. And also conservation rewards need to be put in place.
TO just keep going in our marry way does not get it done.

I don't know Kosar. You have a lot of criticism over this Iraq thing - that still makes you a leftist overall I reckon.

It's kinda like Bush's view on preventing terrorism - we have to be right every time, they only have to be right once. YOU have to be RIGHT every time. If you are at all LEFT once, then you worship at the feet of Lenin and Lennon.

....and I think your Alaska drilling idea is ridiculous.

that i don`t get,bub....the alaska drilling thing....

we have the cubans allowing the chinese to drill awfully close to our coast....and lord knows ,i doubt that they`ll give a damn about the environment....certainly won`t be nearly as responsible as we would be...

now,we seem to have found a very large deposit in the gulf of mexico.....

if we are going to be dependent on oil...at least in the short term......lets help ourselves a bit....lets at least buoy our reserves in advance of ahmadinnerjacket doing something that might cause oil to hit $200 a barrel.....

lets take the straight jacket off ourselves....i dig the environmentalism, bud, but you can`t wipe your ass with a spotted owl,you know....

SS reform is necessary.

You're right. The most necessary reform for SS is raising both skilled *and* unskilled immigration quotas to allow more people into the country who want to work and contribute. This includes naturalizing many of the illegal immigrants who are already here.

With that massive increase in the worker pool, the problem of paying for retirees will at least be lessened.

Well I wouldn't expect you and your neo-con friend Kosar to agree with me. And how do you know that about the spotted owl? You ever try? The feathers are actually quite absorbant, thorough, and kinda ticklish.

unsophisticated persons are generally inclined to answer with something like "half a clap," which signifies that they have not yet achieved buddha nature....

after several years of dedicated meditating, however, they learn the correct response, which is to face the questioner, assume an appropriate buddhist posture, and without a word thrust one hand forward...

i learned this from the sound of the one hand: 281 zen koans with answers by hau hoo, which is my idea of an admirably no-bullshit approach to cosmic enlightenment......:142hail:

:SIB ..(truthfully,i don`t know wtf any of that means,either....i think it`s getting a little to close to thanksgiving for me to be acting like a jive turkey).....

see ya`...

kosar,

Hey, I'm open to suggestions on what the best way is to help ease the socal security burden. Raise taxes? Cut benefits? Raise the minimum retirement age?

Any of those things could help but you have to increase the worker pool as well.
