No wonder many folks won't leave. They can't leave their pets to a certain death to get on a boat to be recued. At this point the resources are in place that surely a family can bring their dog. Unless death were imminent I would not abandon my dog.... thanks I feel better.

i was gonna post the same thing...a dog, or another human being. I love animals as much as anyone but not enough to trump someone else's life.
And where would you have the pets go when they get out? The Astrodome? Imagine that nightmare.
If these folks love their pets that much even more reason they should have gotten out sooner.
