On another note, those who have a little argument to take Clemson, what ranked "D"s did Clemson play this year? How'd they do offensively vs ND, Fla St, L'ville, UNC, Syracuse? Bama would tear each of those teams a new asshole, at least by 4 TDs on a neutral field. On the rd in the SEC is no easy feat for those bashing the SEC once again and Bama won no less than by 14 pts on their rd games.

These two coaches will tear game films down with anyone but when it comes to pure athletic talent on both sides of the ball and depth, you need to take a hard look at that along with special teams and turnovers. Clemson has made way more mistakes than they have taken away and the fact of the matter, Bama shut down Fournette. Clemson gave BC 17 pts? BC couldn't score on the Massachusetts school for the blind!

Tennesse if you compare them to Clemson which is a mistake, could compete with Clemson on a neutral field easily. Dobbs is bigger and stronger than Watson. Watson has heart and runs the "O" well but in all honesty he has not faced a "D" like Bama's. Connor Cook is not a nimble QB by anymeans, but he had more red jerseys on him in less than 3 step drops than Watson had scrambling vs ND "D".

Line is now down to -6 Bama at most houses and it will go down a lil bit more.

This may be the biggest game of his career @ Bama and being the Heisman winner, Henry could rip big holes in the Tiger "O" in the last quarter which is going to determine this game. Kirby Smart is no dummy, no puns intendoed either.

Darn now I'm sounding like Phyllis from the Finebaum show!! ARGH!!

Since you seem to be into past performance as an indicator of what might happen, don't forget what happened the last time Bama met Oklahoma or Ohio State on a neutral field. Then consider what happened last time Clemson met Oklahoma and Ohio State on a neutral field. :142smilie:142smilie:142smilie:142smilie

sounds a lot like what people were saying when Bama played O State last year. Personally I think Bama wins but I do think Clemson has the best mix of things that a team needs to compete with Bama. Cook is a good QB but he was fresh meat for the Bama rush. The ends didn't have to maintain any type of rush lanes. They were able to just put their heads down and go because he was just taking his 5 step drop and bouncing. Watson is a whole different animal and will slow the rush ends down. He'll also keep the LBs honest. I also think Clemsons DLine is good enough to help play well vs the Bama running game. It's hard to say "Clemson didn't play well versus this team who is horrible" because in all honesty these are kids and if they're not up to play a game then we all know it's going to be closer than Vegas thinks. It also doesn't matter what they did at the beginning of the year. That was a long time ago and to me it's why Bamas loss to Ole Miss doesn't mean jack crap. Their D is GREAT but wasn't up for that game and look what happened.

I was hoping the game would go up and I could grab and 8 but I won't bet anything under 7. Can I see Bama blowing them out, yes. But I think more than likely the game is very close and if Clemson can keep Bama from hitting several long passes then they'll be ok. They're going to have to focus on the run and that might leave the top open for big plays.

I'm going to also consider what happened the last time Alabama played Texas , Notre Dame , and LSU on neutral fields ....

Common or past opponents don't mean shit to me. I just consider the matchups and talent on the field.

People act like Alabama gets the top 50 recruits then the rest of the country gets to pick from what is left over. I'm definitely not an Alabama hater, I root for them and the SEC more often than not because I'm from Big 10 country and enjoy seeing the big 10 get smothered. But Clemson has their fair share of top recruits, talent, and future NFL players.

Anyways, Watson is the best player on the field on either side of the ball. Yes, Alabama has a nasty front 7 as well as talent all over the field and in the waitings. Lots of future NFL talent. But I would argue that Clemson has NFL talent all over the field on offense and defense as well(Lawson, Alexander for starters). Miami in 2003 had the best NFL talent in the history of college football and lost to a FAR inferior team of talent and this game is NOWHERE CLOSE to that comparison when you compare talent on the field. Clemson is right there, maybe just not as deep.

Speaking of future NFL players...Oklahoma has 2 future NFL running backs(something I can't say about Derrick Henry) and Clemson held them to 82 yards rushing without Shaq Lawson for the majority of the game.

There is simply 2 advantages Alabama has in this game. Depth and special teams. Depth matters in the course of the season, and special teams can simply be nullified by moving the ball which Clemson does very efficiently.

the tigers have 3 of the top 10 wide receivers in NFL right now. My guess is many did not know nuke Hopkins or martavis Bryant in college. Other than pro scouts. There is plenty of future NFL talent at Clemson they just don't get the hype. Not sure how I prove that to you, but it exists. Do u think Oklahoma offensive line is bad, or maybe Clemson has talent on defense also?

Hopkins yes, I'd say the majority forgot about Bryant.
