I, for one, am keeping a sharp eye on what is going on in the Atlantic. My location underneath my moniker is accurate as I live directly off a marina and shipyard. I can see the ocean from my bedroom (perhaps twenty feet above the waterline) and live on an island with a two lane road on and off to the mainland. Lets hope Izzy loses quite a bit of power before she reeks havok to us coastal residents.

6-5--I used to manage a bar/restaurant on KY. when it snowed, we knew we were going to be slammed because people would get there early and hole up there hoping that we would get blocked in. BUT when it rained, we were tripping over tumbleweeds. People in KY are pretty funny, but you should see the news in ATL when we get an inch of snow. I swear you will see headlines like "Great Winter Storms of 2003". I crack up every year. Businesses shut down at the first sign of dust. I work from home, so it doesn't stop me unless I get stuck at the mailbox!

My girlfriend's beach house is on Emerald Isle, NC, pretty close to the anticipated strike zone. We are all keeping our fingers crossed, but as we have dealt with it in the past, it is a known risk when you own property near the ocean. Hopefully it will keep losing some steam.

Every time I see on tv that a hurricane is coming we see people carting out plywood from the Home Depot. What in the world did they do with the plywood from the last hurricane? Same thing with the flashlights.
I was brought up in Rhode Island and i've been in hurricanes. My dad had all the window coverings in the cellar and when he sold the house the coverings stayed there.

Umbrellas please. Here she comes.

Kotysdad, looks like you're gonna get the worst of it. Hang in there.

That guy in Nags Head should be pleased this AM. Weather channel has live remotes and the surf looks great! Hopefully he'll have enough sense not to "experiment" tomorrow.

Keep us posted until you lose power.

You are right about that Dr. StrangeLove.
A forecast of " slight chance of snow," and the shelves at grocery stores empty within hours. Its ridiculous how bad people around this state freak out when there is even a mention of possible snow. Overreacting is an understatement. We are talking major stockpiling, and not just water, batteries, and the basic essentials. Hardware stores even sell out of generators in a matter of hours. You would have to see it to believe it. A mere inch of snow can shut everything from schools to businesses down.
