Look at this way - if Lieberman is "all that" then he'll rebound as an independent. It could spawn a stronger independent movement - attracting moderate Republicans to leave the party, free from fear of not surviving without the extremist support.
This could be a great step in shaking up the 2-party system - something that you have endorsed (or at least claimed to endorse) for quite some time.
NOW you're talking. I've long been advocating someone of substance and stature making a move to the Independent party, and causing a stir. It's what - I think - it will take to do some damage to the current pork barrel protectionism. Lieberman is just such a person, more middle of the road, someone who could galvanize others. Perot did pretty darn well causing a stir...if more would fall in line, heck, maybe a losing Republican of note this November to create a STRONG, unified independent ticket, that could be pretty cool.
Of course, I certainly don't want to damage the democratic party to see that happen, short term. But I can give a little for the good of the country. Unlike a few around here, I submit.
Lieberman/DeLay in 2008!! Woo-hoo!!
No, wait...must...slow...down... :slomo
