this past tuesday my (building/garage) 40X70 was hit by lightning. was not there to see it, (came home to firetrucks in the yard and smoke). but it was struck once and maybe twice and turned red from end to end, and was destroyed within minutes.
anyways the volunteer firefighters came very quickly and thanks to them no human, animal life was lost. Not also to mention two more buildings and the house. they stayed for 5 hours as the temperatures climbed after the storm and put out the fire.
anyways they had two more calls that day and after a quiet spring and summer and calls around the clock for the last three days. if you have a volunteer firefighters around you, it would be wise to support them. This Christmas will have many more people to buy for, to show my appreciatiation. They always seem to operate on tight budget and have very little money, and no one gets paid, it is all volunteer.
The building was insured, will not get everything back like the contents inside but I can replace all of that. just happy there were people who came to put out the fire.
you get the idea.
thanks
