Obviously, these are just points of dicussion. I'm not pulling out my NFL Yearbook and throwing stats all over the place. It's just a general feeling I (and others) have about certain teams and players being over-rated / overpaid / and overvalued.
My problem with Dillon is not that he lacks some decent numbers over the years. What gets me (after seeing this happen time and time again) is when it's a CRITICAL down, and the Bengals need 2 yards, or they are on the goal line and need a TD late in the game (laike happened TWICE last season) Dillon usually gets the ball and fails. A great back gets THAT EXTRA YARD or scores. I realize blocking is very important, but a good back can break loose from a DB or plow over a LB and carry him inot the end zone for two yards. Dillon, from what I have seen, lacks that killer instinct. Yes, he runs well when he has a hole, and he certainly has some speed and power. But when the game is on the line and I need TWO YARDS, there are about 20 other backs in the league I'd give the ball to instead of Dillon. It's called HEART, and Corey Dillon LACKS IT.
I'll be interested in any feedback.
