Gruden ya listening now? Mariucci was in Detroit once upon a time ago!!

Better start listening Gruden, not too many chances left to be a Head Coach again, unless you jump at the opportunity!!!

No doubt. Schwartz is a better coach than Caldwell. Another 5 years of potential and nothing to show for it. Tough being a Lions fan

Lord I hope it's not Caldwell, he had his shot with the Colts after Tony left. He's a very good Asst Coach, not a HC!! He interviewed with the Browns and Munch is interviewing with them now, Cleveland wouldn't know a good coach if they had one fall in their lap. I don't get it!!

Lions deserve someone with 1/2 a brain to go with all that talent the Lions have drafted the past few years. Underachievers need a leader, someone like Jack Del Rio perhaps? Vikings trying to land him but he's been quiet since they are still playing.

Lions have so much talent, but still not sold on Stafford. Think he's a bit of a head case like Cutler. Lions are a few solid secondary picks and maybe a confident Stafford away from being the bomb. Hope they hire someone solid!:0008Not a fan, but realize talent...

WOW!! If Lane takes over in Bama, there could be the first public execution of a Head Football Coach ever!! j/k :mj07::mj07:

I think the Lions will hold out until after the Super Bowl since there are a couple of coordinators the team is also looking at, one is McDaniels of New England and what he's done with an offense with so many injuries and some inexperience (Hobson and the other WR I can't recollect his name at the moment) both oft injured in 2013 and fill in tight ends.

Embarrassing. Such a shame for a talented young team. I was looking forward to backing them early and often... but now :shrug:

Hey boss....... U r lucky to unload Caldwell, and his inept offense!

I don't understand how the espn analysts are calling this a GREAT HIRE!

Peyton can make anyone look great!

The following year, he couldn't have done any worse w the colts.

I feel Bad for the Lions and their fans!

The Ravens are going to get a BETTER offensive coordinator!!!!!

The Lions should pick up Maurice Clarrette and Randy Moss to help their Offense, as well!!!!!!!!!

Terrell Owens, as well!

U took the words right out of my mouth, Wildman!

The reasons I don't like this hire is 1) He took over for T Dungy and T Dungy didn't leave the cupboard bare!! 2.) Caldwell does well in a role where he has to answer to the HC, usually as the OC, but his offenses are conservative and very predictable, hence, Jack's elated outburst Caldwell is gone, look at what he did to the Raven's offense 3.) With Manning out with the neck surgery and talent still left on the squad he had two BU QBs and neither were developed, Painter and the other kid that got hurt, their running attack went backwards and their defense was on the field 75% of the time.

Now what's going to happen is there is a change of the guard in Detroit and all that talent coming back, the running backs, Bush & Bell are legit threats in the right scheme of things, Megatron will get help probably thru where the Lions are drafting, they should go for the big kid from FSU Benjamin, at least I would, and the defensive talent is there, they need to go to a 3-4 scheme and put Suh in the middle to put pressure on the center/guards and allow the larger OLB/rush ends to take care of the rest and they need some DBs with some balls. The division they are in, the NFC Central is up for anyone to take and the Lions are not far off from being on top, at least that's what "she said", but anyways, LIONS need a leader, take charge type, Caldwell can do that, but he's going to need a staff of assistants that have a clue and they should hire Tony Dungy as a consultant to help Jim, if they (LIONS) fail to give this guy a solid foundation around him, meaning coaching staff, the LIONS are going to revert back to a 3-13 team. Stafford has talent, but look at Staffords track record at Georgia and with the Lions, when he gets happy feet, he's his own worse enemy, when he has time to move a bit and look downfield, there isnt' a better arm in the division, but he's a big pussy and he's probably thinking about his beautiful/model like wife all the time instead of focusing on the game. The Lions could be making a clever move, but if the Over/Under for WINS Prop comes out at Lions 8 1/2, I'm taking the under!!

Later!!

Good stuff ya'll and congrats Jack, no more worries for the Ravens, but really? The Ravens do have worries, they have free agents to sign and need to revamp their offense and get Flacco's head back on the swivel after signing that large contract. Large contract signings and performances gone backwards the last 4 years: Kevin Kolb, Drew Brees, Ben Rapistberger, Josh Freeloaderman, soon to be Jay Cutlet-ler, and of course, Joe Flacco's contract. Ravens need to fill some defensive holes and another o'lineman or two.

Ohkay I'm rambling now!!

I didn't know the 2014 futures were out already, this is a great move by the front office, they obviously loaded up on Detroit total wins under 7  :142smilie:mj07:

"the bunker"
i guess i`ll be the turd in the punchbowl....i think that caldwell might do well in detroit.....the ravens actually took off last year when they replaced cameron with caldwell and won the super bowl by basically outscoring oppnents(in spite of having a pedestrian defense)...

this year, ozzie newsome threw the entire checkbook at the defense and totally ignored the offense(tried to replace proven stars with second stringers already on the team...and when he went offensive in the draft,he drafted a fricking fullback)......

obviously, the ravens front office screwed up and left the offensive cupboard bare(nobody would have done well with the shortage of talent on offense and the injuries the ravens suffered this year).....i really think that given detroit`s talent on offense and caldwell`s success with qb`s that if stafford can be salvaged,he just might be your guy(caldwell is renowned as a qb guy)........one way or the other,at least you`ll know whether stafford needs replacing.....

of course,i honestly thought schwartz would make a decent head coach so i might be going full frontal lobotomy on this one,too....

i really do think this will give stafford some help...hopefully for the detroit fans on the board, this isn`t following the titanic with the hindenburg....
