Reported from CNN......

LOS ANGELES, California (CNN) -- Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes, member of hip-hop R&B group TLC, was killed in a car accident Thursday in Honduras, her record label reported early Friday.

"We had all grown up together and were as close as a family. Today we have truly lost our sister," said her band members, Tionne "T-Boz" Watkins and Rozanda "Chilli" Thomas, in a statement released by Diggit Entertainment.

Lopes was on vacation in the Central American country where she often visited, said TLC manager Bill Diggins. He received a phone call about 11 p.m. Thursday from authorities in Honduras, reporting the accident. Diggins said seven other people were in the vehicle at the time of the accident and no one else was injured. He was told that Lopes was killed instantly.

"No words can possibly express the sorrow and sadness I feel for this most devastating loss," said Antonio "L.A." Reid, president and CEO of Arista Records, who has known the group for about 10 years. "Lisa was not only a gifted and talented musical inspiration, but more importantly, she was like a daughter to me. My thoughts and prayers are with Lisa's family and friends. Her legacy will be remembered forever."

Funeral arrangements were pending. The service is scheduled to take place in Atlanta.

Lopes recently launched her solo career with the album "Supernova," released internationally earlier this year. She rose to stardom as a member of TLC -- named for the members' initials -- with hits such as "Waterfalls," "Baby, Baby, Baby" and "No Scrubs."

Lopes also gained notoriety in 1994, when she set fire to the Atlanta-area mansion she shared with football-player beau Andre Rison. Seven years later, the couple planned to marry, but the wedding was called off at the last minute.

TLC had been recording a new album in an Atlanta studio for release later this year.

YYZ, the point that is trying to be made here is the exact same point I made with TCSN the other day when I addressed the fact that Layne Staley had passed and he had some harsh words, although yours are not so harsh, it still should go without saying to keep your opinions on such a delicate subject to yourself! Poking fun at the living is quite acceptable but have a little respect after someone has passed!

well said BF.

There's a time and place for humor, and yyz, it seems that you are unaware of all three.

While she may not have been a "model" citizen or made music that lots of people deemed "crap" she was somebodies daughter, somebodies sister, and so on and so forth...

How would some of you react if one of your family members passed and somebody was taking cracks at them???

I sure would not care for it too much. May she rest in peace. Hopefully she is in a better place now...

I don't think everyone should jump on yyz's back here.

how about all of the people that had sisters, moms, dads, brothers, baby daddies, etc. in the hotel she tried to burn down?

I'm not saying burn in hell or anything remotely like that, but I don't think anyone needs to get on a rant about yyz's post when there are plenty worse things said here everyday.

She didn't burn down a hotel. It was her own house, and no one was in it.

Isn't it weird how they always say that famous people always die in threes! Well what is weird when they all die and have the same initial!

Layne Staley
Linda Lovelace
Lisa Lopes

Kinda weird

I thought it was Andre "bad moon" Rison's house:confused:

Regardless, always sad to see another young soul leave this world.

On the course!
Grow a sac, you weak tits!

Did I say, "Great! The bitch is dead!" or, "Who fking cares about her?" No! I made a comment about there not being another TLC record!

People die every day. People (including people in here) STILL make fun of Sonny Bono hitting a tree umpteen years ago, and that's a fuhking laugh riot to some of you! Do I need to do a 'search' of threads to post up any "insensitive" shit any of you tit babies ever posted? And I'm talking serious crap....not, "Maybe this means we'll be spared that next TLC disc."

I've been called out for saying some things in the past, and said, "Yeah, you're right....that was uncalled for." But I'm not giving in to you tree huggers on this one. If that comment made it so you can't enjoy your day, guess what? You have a bigger fuhking problem than I, or the Lopes family do.

Worry about your families, and your communities, and your countries. Worry about things that are worth the effort. Don't worry about some comment made in a sports forum, by a guy you never met.

I'm certainly not happy about the death of this young lady, but then again, it doesn't affect me, either. Perhaps that is what allows me the freedom to be so "insensitive".

Unknowingly, I crossed the moral lines of some of you. That is my crime. Nothing more, nothing less. Bluemound, you say, "Poking fun at the living is quite acceptable but have a little respect after someone has passed!"

Someone will say, "No, poking fun of the living is not acceptable, either!" You set your own levels of tolerence, and feel they are "acceptable". Well, mine include making comments when someone dies, I guess.

Nothing I said was intended as harmful. I find it difficult to believe that any of you would have been so put off by those comments, but then again.....I guess I don't.

"A time and a place for humor"? Let me know when and where they are, so I can follow the path of righteousness, with the enlightened members of this forum!

More people here are probably more upset with the shit some of you guys wrote here, than what I did.

yyz, why are you so upset that you have to go and start calling people tree huggers, tit suckers and the like? Do you really feel the need to be that offensive? Does it make you feel better? I agree that everyone says something that is offensive from time to time but I among many others think that death is probably a subject you just don't make light of.

Whether you knew this person or not is highly irrelative. To me that is no different that if you just posted if one of your relatives died, and someone started chiding in and made light of it? Don't tell me you would not be upset or you blood would not boil.

Did her death ruin my day? No. Does it effect me? No. I would have commented if someone was making a mockery of death period as I am sure others would too. I am sure that your comment did not ruin anyone's day but only shed light upon whom you really are. I realize that everyone is entitled to their own opinion right or wrong, but show some class.

It was all in the context of your message man. And when you say to worry about things worthwhile and not what some guy in a sportsforum that you have never met what kind of statement is that? Obviously you are pretty worried about a bunch of people that you never meet if you feel the need to stand on your soap box, call us names and lecture us and defend your statement. What are you trying to accomplish in this forum anyway when you do not even gamble anymore, and then turn around and with a flacid bit of advice by calling us the enligtened???

YYZ, I simply was giving a little advice, as far as I'm concerned It bears nothing on my soul to see her gone but I would keep the comments to myself! Tree hugger I am not, I don't suck a titty for sympathy just for pleasure. So with that being said I guess I'll put it to you like I see it! I used to enjoy reading what you posted but it seems as of late that all you do is bash and put down folks, guess something has cahnged? I don't know and really don't give a shit what the hell has happened to you to make you so abbrassive. So disregard my post to you, I was not bashing on you I was making a comment that I felt relevant, so do me a favor jackass and click the button to ignore my posts if my advice to you is not welcomed because I could have been a lot more abbrassive myself. Just thought I'd try to do it nicely!

Have a nice day!

I'm a tree hugger because I think it's cold to make a sarcastic comment about someone who was killed? Sorry I even said anything to begin with. Have a nice day everyone.

A Family Tree ...

The Tree Hugger

annie.jpg

What is a Tree Hugger? Commemorative Tree Plaque?

The patented, commemorative tree tag is made of high-grade stainless steel thus insuring safety of all trees as this metal releases no toxins onto trees and can weather all elements without corrosion.

The Tree Hugger? will maintain it's shine!

We use a thin grade of stainless steel and round the edges so it will gently conform to your tree.

The Hugger is affixed to the tree with a high-grade stainless steel tension spring encased in a plastic sleeve, which guarantees a gentle growth process.

All springs were designed in accordance with the Spring Manufacturing Institute (S.M.I) guidelines and criteria.

We provide two tension springs, encased in a plastic tube to protect the tree, in 6" and 24" sizes, which will take most trees from birth to maturity. We also stock tension springs in various sizes to accommodate all trees?young and mature!

Our engraving technique is computer generated, performed with diamond tipped cutters which assures your ever-lasting impression.

We can comfortably engrave up to 25 letters per line, four line maximum. Plenty of room to convey your Birthday, Anniversary, Wedding, Retirement, Memorial messages?

Our insurance policy will replace your original Hugger at half of your purchase cost should an act of nature or a bad person steal your Tree Hugger. We know how important this project is to you and want it to last!

I'm not upset, Raymond, just continually amazed at what people get "put off' over.

Here's an idea:

Leave the Obits out of the forum

Then, we won't have offensive people like me, running their mouths off with such roughshod comments as I made.

We all see the news, and read the paper, right? Why post it here?

BM,

What have I writen of late that fits the "it seems as of late that all you do is bash and put down folks" criteria?

I don't believe that to be that case, at all. If you feel that to be true, I am sorry. I have said it 1000 times, and will keep saying it: I never intentionally bash anyone, or try to piss them off for the sake of pissing them off. Some things get said that others disagree with, and the "spat" is on. That I can handle, and like I said before, if I feel I am wrong, I have no problem admitting it.

Let's cut to fuhking chase here, boys:

Were any of you really offended by what I wrote? Was it truely an insensitive thing to write?

If so.....than I'll just shake my head, and try to refrain from pissing you off in the future.

I don't dislike any of you based on your opinions in this forum, especially when they are not constant head to head competitions. If I offend you guys 'all of the sudden", I will try to deal with that. I won't let you ruin my day, and I would certainly hope that you won't let me ruin yours.

(By the way BM, I have recently become crass and crotchety over my continued losses in the state run lottery. I was certain that I would win Wednesday, and once again, my numbers failed to come up. I will try to seek help for this, as to avoid further discord with fellow forum members.)

DISCLAIMER:

The above paragraph was intended soley as an attempt at humor. I am not sure if this is the time or place, or if it meets the committee's approval as "humor", but no harm was intended in the making of this comment!

Jack.......You kill me! (Oops! Not in a literal way though!)

Tree Huggers.......what a hoot!:D
