Cincinnati you are dealt 5 cards in your hand, and 5 community cards, similiar to holdem.
You are making the best 5 card poker hand possible they only difference is the 3rd community card is a split the pot card. If a 7 or lower comes up the low card of that suit in your hand has a lock on half the pot, which 2 is the low lock. And if a 9 or higher comes up it is the high card of that suite being an ace of that suite would be a lock. But if a 8 comes up no split. Each community card is turned one at a time and each card is a mandatory bet, no checking in this game. So it can build a very healthy pot
.

When you say low card of that suite in your hand does that mean just the low card of everybody or just the lowest card of everyone gets half the pot. Because everyone could have say a low spade?

This must be just a regional midwest game, like euchre is because sounds like a lot of u never heard of it. But it is played by everyone here, more popular than texas holdem.

I assume he means that the lowest of that suit still in the hand wins the pot. If a 5 of spades came out as the third card --- when the hand is over the person holding the 2 of spades would beat the person holding the 3 of spades and get half the pot. Kinda like what Chicago is to seven card stud.

One of our weekly game's favorites is a 7-card stud high-low split game. If the low hand has a "qualifying" hand (a qualifying low hand is a 7 or better), then the high hand has to qualify (a qualifying high hand is trips or better). Same thing the other way, if the high hand qualifies, then the low hand has to qualify. If only one, high or low, qualifies, then it gets the whole pot. If no hand qualifies, then the best high and low split. Good pot builder...

We used to play this all the time. Just like 3 card guts but 2's and 3's are wild. You can draw up to 3 cards. Go and lose and you have to match the pot. Naturals win . Example 3 nines would beat a 2, 3 and a 9.

King/Little: 5 Card Draw where Kings and your lowest card are wild.

Mr. Hand: Every player has to ante a certain amount into the pot. Then each player is dealt 2 cards. Then 2 cards are dealt to "Mr Hand" which is actually the pot. Every player then holds their cards face down above Mr. Hands cards then counts to 3. The object of the game is to beat Mr. Hands 2 cards. After the count of 3, if you don't like your hand, you drop your cards. If you like your hand, then you keep your 2 cards up in the air. Then whoever has the highest hand against Mr. Hand wins the pot. Whoever has the smaller hand against one another and Mr. Hand has to match the pot. And the game gets dealt again until someone wins the pot. Sorry if my explanation sucked...

3-6 guts, and
virtually any 7-card stud game, including
split-pots like Chicago or hi-lo

People I play with lately can't seem to follow this
one, but I used to play (more than 10 years ago
now) a split-pot game (hi-lo) called push , that
was pretty cool. Mention this last one 'cause
I don't think anyone else has.

Chit...I used to play every Wednesday and Sunday.
Sure miss those good ol' days.
Play, maybe, once a month now.
