he now says Jarrett is the guy he wants most and is the best receiver in the nation. never mind the fact that the kid is in New Jersey and Scott surely hasnt seen him play, much less those he would compare him too. the guy isnt even a 5 star for the most of those that do this for a living and have actually seen him play, but that of course doesnt deter the all-knowing Scott. amazing how Scott can spend so much time living USC yet travel the nation and know everything about every recruit there is. hopefully Scott can tutor him too, since his 2.8 GPA at that high school may indicate a few problems down the road

I'll be the first to admit I am not a talent evaluator but I go by what others tell me and I have seen highlight videos of all the recruits. Most of the USC experts wanted Jarrett the most of all the WR's in the nation. Jarret impressed me the most and he is the most polished. Jarrett also was the best WR at the all star game and take it for grain of salt that Lemming says Jarrett is his favorite as well. I also know that Carroll thinks Davis is #1 and Chow thinks Jarrett is #1. So what does USC do? They sign both! 
Like I said, who cares about star rankings, USC coaches don't. They wanted Jarret a 4-star more than Colvin a 5-star. USC still wants colvin and maybe USC gets lucky and gets all 3. By the way, Jarrett would be a 5-star recruit and the best WR in nation if he did not play in New Jersey.

WHy you say i am a moron? Jarrett was the best WR at the army all star game. Did you not watch the game? Reason Jarrett is 4-stars is because he does not get as much exposer playing in New Jersey. If he played in FL, Texas, or CA i am positive he would have been a 5-star recruit. Ask any recruiting expert why Jarrett was not 5-stars and I would bet they say it is because he plays in New Jersey. What major college is near him? Ummmm, Rutgers and that is about it.
Look at the rosters around the nation Scott - the QB's of Nebraska and Minnesota are from NJ, and half of the Penn St team is from the Garden State. I wish I had more examples but those are off the top of my head.
I agree that Jersey isn't on par with Texas or Florida when it comes to high school football - but I do not see the connection between Rutgers being a poor team and New Jersey recruits being "downgraded."

Let me be more clear. Jarrett was scouted and graded 4 stars, but some recruiting analysts rated him the #2 WR in nation. It varies. It is a fact that athletes from CA, FL, and Texas get more exposure so the recruiting experts will rate them higher because they see them play more. Jarrett would def. been a 5-star recruit if he played in TX, CA, or FL. At the Army All Star game he was the best WR there, and he was playing against all the top WR in country. I brought up Rutgers because athletes from New Jersey have only Rutgers as option to stay close to home. Athletes in other states have MAJOR programs to choose from at home so they get more of a recruiting buzz. Your right most athletes from New Jersey go to Penn St. and others u mentioned. I do know that Carroll and staff ranked Jarrett ahead of Colvin who is a 5-star recruit.
It is a big mystery why Jarrett never was rated 5-stars but who cares anyways. I am just glad USC got him and not Ohio St. That is 2 huge big time WR's that USC beat Ohio St. for. The OSU fans are crying that Carroll is cheating and should be investigated, that there is no way USC could get this type recruiting class without cheating. It is quite funny. Agree with you that NJ players do not get the exposure of a Texas or Florida - but I think that just goes to show that these ratings aren't worth a damn. If these so called experts can't evaluate talent evenly across the player pool, is their analysis really worth anything?

Ditto for most experts analysis of conf strength! And the main argument used against the Pac 10 is that most people/experts think the SEC is a better conf. How do those experts forget teams like Vandy, Kentucky, S Car, Ole Miss & Miss St. are all in the so-called strongest conf in college football. And those teams suck year in & year out for the last 20 yrs or so.
I'd bet that you couldn't count more than 3 good yrs for each of those teams in the last 20 yrs!
