I am in a bind with my local book. huh imagine that. The way my guy works is pay on the 20th of every month (if you owe) or get paid on the 21st of every month if your ahead. My problem is that I had a decent month (thanks mostly in part to MJs) and my guy cant come up with the money. It is not an overly huge amount around $800 dollars. He told me to wait till 20th of Dec. and he will pay me then. I have been using this guy for 2 seasons and have lost my fair share to him and always paid on time. I brought that up to him and gave me a sob story of how he is having problems trying to collect from other people. Anybody have any suggestions? Im leaning towards just not using him till he pays up or just quit using him all together. I have also thought about making my case heard by some of his other customers, but if I do that im afraid I might get paid at all. Any way if anyone has any advice I would really appreciate it. I think Im gonna try an offshore book.

Thanks!!!

Been in your spot...waiting the month isnt end of the world, should you have to? No, but not too bad.

Next time you get in trouble you can remind him of this situation, and would work in your favor, buy you some time.

Also noone wants anyone who doesnt pay so it wouldnt be a bad idea to search around a lil for another local, or go offshore(hassle sometimes). Hope this helped.....

If a BM does not have the money to cover a $800 debt to me means he is a minor leaguer. You should not say anything to his other customers yet, because as you said he may get pissed & not pay you altogether. You should stop playing with him. If he asks why you stopped, you should tell him that you will resume once he settles with you. But you would be foolish if you did play with him again.

Good Luck

I would go over to his house and when he opened the door I would break his left kneecap with a baseball bat. Take his wallet and all his money for me having to go over there and get my 800 bucks. On the way out I would smash the windshield of his mercedes.

Maybe kosar needs me to collect for him from some of his internet wagers.

:p :p :p

Totally in agreement - if he can't pay you $800 now, he will never be able to pay or is just plain stiffing you. Make a $720 bet and be done with him - you are never going to get paid. Take your action to another or off shore. I got stiffed for almost $2500 and chased the guy clear to Vegas where I found him in a sportsbook. He was betting $2.00 on horses. Shit happens.

I had this problem in basketball a few years ago. Myself and 2 other guys were combining and playing basketball. We got hot one week and were about about $5,000 in one week. Unbelievabe streak, so anyway we call our guy and he says, "oh by the way, we are going to have to start settling every 2 weeks. We were pissed! So we go balls to the wall the next week knowing we would never see that money(he was a college kid) and lose about $6500 going into the weekend. We call Saturday and Sunday, no answer. Well, our picks would have won that weekend that we would have played and I am not just saying that, but we would have been up about $1000 net after two weeks, but he had us down $1500 total and tells us he told us he wouldn't be there which he didn't.. We tell him that if he can't pay us from the last week, then we can't pay him and basically found a new guy to play through. I am not saying to do it this way, but if they won't pay you, then don't pay them. I always have payed what I owed even if I had to scrape it together and I think they should do the same.
