So much to write...will keep it simple I hope...Army leads the nation in rushing...has Bradshaw at qb with 1,500 yds...has not fumbled which is amazing...h cannot pass at all..other then a hook pass or curl the linebackers have a better arm..cannot hit any crossing plays..Armys FB and halfbacks are sound..Woolfok,Davidson inside,,they have a speedster outside...Army defense is a little suspect...did give up 51 points to North Texas 4 weeks ago...but has played all year...but they haven't seen a rb like Penny all year...Penny has 2,000 yds and one of the best rb's in the nation....once great about Penny is he has over 1,700 after he has been hit,,,..they have a good qb and have a "home run hitter wideout in Holder who might get a few bombs thrown his way...both teams run the ball a lot more then pass...Bradshaw is no threat passing doesn't really need to pass because he and the running game can't be stopped...Aztecs have the 8th best rushing defense holding teams to 88 yds...Army could get that on the 1st or 2nd series..but Aztecs have had 3 weeks to prepare..but many can say" so what" we all know what they are going to do...I think Army defense is going to have a tough time with Penny...he will dominate and the Aztecs get in front..Army cannot play from behind down by 10...I think both teams will score and move the ball..I like the over 45.5...with Army playing 4 games where they never completed one pass will hurt them today..Army is going against a pretty good defense thpogh..Aztecs did see the wishbone vs Air Force..Army beat AF at AF 21-0..SD St beat AF at there place 28-14...and although Army is 8-3 with the No 1 rush offense they are only beating teams scoring,21,7,21,35,28,38,21,21, and 49 vs North Texas,,,some of those wins were against Rice,UTEP,Easterm Mich....Aztecs in last 3 games scored 52,42, and 35 ...think Penny has a big game..Aztecs have to realize when you play Army you might only get 5 or 6 possessions if you allow Army to control the clock...and if the Aztecs win the coin flip,please take the the ball 1st...I have a few games where the other team selects to give the ball to Army...and with 6 minutes left in the 1st quarter down 7-0 you get the ball..San Diego St 35-21...

Good Luck Box! I agree with all the points you made.
Penny is a beast. He is also good catching the ball out of the backfield. They have been using him at kick off and punt returns the last few games and scored a punt return and kickoff return TD the last game of the year. Christian Chapman is very good at throwing the ball but this should be the Penny Show.

Can't believe the unsportsmanlike penalties...both of them were huge. SD St has to know just be disciplined. I also love Army and the run game but its just incredible that they can't stop it. I mean, zero runs in the 1st half and it took a kickoff return just to tie it.

Holding penalty was huge just now. I have no idea why they faked the field goal.

I just need SD St to win...I teased them and S Florida...I keep wanting SD St to put more guys in the box or do something...not completely sell out but man....play something like a 4-5 with 2 corners and at least make them throw it.

Army is straight up beating them on both sides of the ball but the long run (congrats Box) and the kickoff return have kept them in it. Should be a good 4th quarter. Hate to cheer against Army but I really need SD St to win!!

How F dumb is SD ST?? Finally get a big turnover and instead of just pounding the ball with Penny who already has 3 Tds you throw some BS play which gets INT by Army.

Secondary coach for SD St has a terrible game plan. Safeties are five yards in the end zone protecting for the pass .

JohnnyWad....totally agree. Been sweating my teaser the whole game...they got the kickoff return and I felt good....stopped the drive that took up 2/3 of the 3rd quarter...holding call and fake field goal...take the lead and get the INT...need less than 20 yards I think.

Of course unsportsmanlike penalty or they would have had it inside the 10. Just run it and worst case kick the FG and Army won't come back from 10 down.

Horrible coaching and just a great game by Army. I'm almost glad they won. I hedged near the end and ended up losing 3 bucks...could have won about 70 so it sucks but from a diehard fan perspective...glad these idiots lost. So many stupid penalties and stupid coaching on both offense and defense.

Army whipped their ass all night and SD St still should have won...but didn't...good job Army...just wish I had bet on them lol

What a game..and the coaching was so bad....Aztec coach...do you have control of your team...the Nose tackle gets ejected in the 1st qrt...number 7 stops Bradshaw for a 3rd and long and then bumps into him on purpose..15 yd penalty and a 1st down..Army scores a few plays later...
Army had the ball 46 minutes to SD St 14..I never heard of that...the best play was longest touchdown over 43.5 yds...Penny had one at the very start of the game for 80 and another one for 50 yds...and TD your right..why are they passing the ball...Penny had 14 carries for over 200 yds.. I think he avg 8 yds per carry....I'm glad Army won even though lost that...did get the over and Penny's over 43.5 yds touchdown runs....Aztecs had such poor coaching trying to stop the wishbone...Army coaches have to be laughing their ass's off with their game plan...14 minutes of possession....amazing...another steve..let us know what you saw that we didn't on the tv screen..

Nah It wasn't the coaching. You can't control stupid penalties by individual players.
I was at the game and the turning point was the interception by Army but it was an awesome play by the DB so hats off to them. If the turnover doesn't happen the Aztecs probably kick a field goal and game over but that's football. Hats off to Army. They played their best game of the year and then some!

Box--agree w all of it. Just curious...was your prop just from scrimmage. Would you have gotten it for the kickoff return? Not that you needed it of course, just wondering.

I'm sure their offense is tough to stop by again....w/o selling out at least do something to encourage the pass. If nothing else, get your defense off the field one way or another. I mean...just load up and get them in 2nd/3rd and long and you've got them.

I once saw my old high school play a really good running team in the playoffs. They threw the ball 3 times that night. They had a fullback and 2 wings and ran...I guess the "flexbone" w 2 tight ends. They ran a sweep to each side, an occasional dive, and some kind of counter. That's literally all the ran.

I was beside myself as my old team ran a basic vanilla defense...5-2 with a monster and occasionally a 5-3...cover 3 all night. You could quickly tell that we were outmanned talent-wise, which doesn't happen often as my school has had a ton of talent over the last 3 decades....anyhoo, I'll continue to ramble lol

I know there's only so much you can do but I was begging them (from the stands of course) to take the free safety out and put a linebacker in and at least try to stop the run. You're gonna lose anyway, might as well do something. You could always disguise it and occasionally let that LB (or even use the safety but line up as a LB) drift back into coverage and make it a guessing game.

I kid you not...the only difference b/t me and the free safety was that I paid to get in and he had a better seat. One of the most frustrating games I've ever seen and in this one...SD St should be ashamed of themselves. Again, hats off the Army and I love the coach and Bradshaw and all of them. But man oh man...and like we've said...run the ball and at least get the FG and you almost certainly win the game.

does it say it there????I really didn't realize Penny returns kickoffs and sometimes punts...he has returned 7 for Td's...
In all my years gambling I think that was the fastest win I ever received....think the 2nd time Penny touched the ball he ran it for 80 yds.....and then in the 2nd half he ran another for 49 yds I think...also the over 45 at halftime was a sure win...think both teams had 41 combined...

I got a feed from the local West Point radio station after the game....it was great. Monken the coach knew he was going for 2 to win the game ... an extra pt would create OT.. He said " we knew SD St would get the ball and there was no way we want to put Penny back on the field ,we couldn't stop him...so I have the No 1 rushing team in the country and if I can't get 3 yds then we deserve to lose.....now the best part..what 2 pt conversion play are we going to run....Bradshaw who has over 200 yds off the Right tackle with an option to lateral to Walker. Davidson up the middle,.....The 3 senior Off Linenmen told coach 'no" ..let us run Oregon{ which is a sweep right} Monken realized these 3 seniors have been at Point longer then him...before they broke the huddle Bradshaw called " Oregon"...they only sweep to the right so everyone knew what the play was...and to perfection Bradshaw got the ball and ran option to Walker who caught it and ran in untouched. If anyone here can post that last play from you tube or something...it was "poetry in motion"...every block was perfect..what a way to end a game with 14
seconds on the clock...

There is no greatest high in coaching when you diagram a play and it works to perfection...had a few coaching basketball...you can relive the play 35 years later and remember every single second...those Cadets on that final play will forever remember those last few seconds in the Lockheed Armed Forces Bowl Game in Fort Worth,Texas..
