If you were the coach of Indiana (Mike Davis)....how on earth could you go into this game and try 36 3 point attempts?

Gonzaga isnt the best defensive team in the land so why would'nt you go to the hoop more??

Has had me puzzled thinking about it all day........has to be one of the strangest gameplans ever..........

No doubt...Killingsworth would have had a field day inside...VERY VERY strange indeed...

killingsworth was in foul trouble, including getting a technical foul (his 4th) and having to sit on the bench for a long stretch

from cbssportsline:

Morrison and Wilmont each got hit with technicals, though it was another T, 22 seconds later on Indiana center Marco Killingsworth, that completely changed this game.

The technical, right after a personal foul, gave Killingsworth four fouls and put him on the bench -- turning Indiana's strategy into a 3-or-nothing game. The Hoosiers hit a bunch -- 13 to be exact -- in the second half and kept the game in reach for most of it.

Even if Killingsworth was on the bench............why not still play regular basketball...........Indiana has only 1 guy on the whole team capable of driving????

Why resort to a 1 dimensional team because a player is in foul trouble??

Maybe vs a team like Uconn who is huge inside.....but vs Gonzaga???

Didn't see this thread before, so this response is incredibly belated...

But I absolutely, 100% agree. I had Indiana in this game, and the entire time I was watching, I kept yelling, "Who the fuk is coaching here?!"

The Hoosiers were running around like chickens with their heads cut off. They were 1,000 times more athletic than Gonzaga, and yet they park outside the 3 point line and continue to chuck up 3 pointers that kept clanging. The only thing that Davis did that even resembled coaching was pressuring Morrison the entire game and keeping a man in his face, with double teams. I too, unfortunately, could have come up with that idea.

I used to think this guy could coach, now I am going to rethink that.

And the most disturbing thing of all of this........is that this kind of play was going on when Indiana was only down 6 point or less and still very much in the game.........

Made me think I was watching a high school team (Gonzo) vs a junior high team where the Junior High team was scared to take it to the older guys.......

Now what is comical is that IMO Gonzaga has to be one of the softest defensive teams in the tourney..........San Diego, Loyola Maramount, Xavier were scoring at will on these guys the games before and everyone knows Morrison cant play defense, Batista is injured and hobbled, they white guys Pendergrass (sp) and Mallon are 2 of the slowwwwest guys around.............so who does that leave to really play defense............Ravio and Knight?????

Killingsworth or not...........there is still no excuse for Indiana to play that way.............beyond belief.......a big 10 team vs a WCC team?????

Who knows? Maybe Davis was given a nice "going away present" for tanking the game??? Stranger things have happened! And don't tell me it is beyond the realm of possibility because I have been the beneficiary of such activities in the past! :)
