Ot was about this time 4 years ago when I heard of MadJackSports.com on another site. I really enjoyed that site, but it was going to be down for a couple of days and the moderators said that MJs was a good place to go while they were down. Well, 4 years later and I've been back to that site less than 10 times.

This is the ONLY non-work related website that I visit everytime I log onto a computer. My friends think I'm weird because I talk about my "friends" MadJack, IE, AR, Dogs That Bark, Taoist, Blazer, etc. I catch myself talking about a lot of people on here like I have known them my entire life, and all I can do is laugh. When I saw Nolan on SportsCenter last week, I felt like it was a personal friend on the screen.

I am really looking forward to the Super Bowl party, so I can see just how hilarious some of you are in person.

Thanks to Jack, IE, fletcher, and the whole team for putting together such a great site. Without it, I would be stuck looking at porn all day with Strangelove!:D

I think that many of the folks here, and myself in particular, feel the same way. Our little family seems to grow every day.... Some of my friends think I'm weird because I talk about some of the fine folks here as if we had been lifelong friends...and sometimes I feel as if we have been.... There is a kind of kindred spirit between fellow gamblers, but much like yourself, I never found the comradery that Jack seems to have created here.... Not only do we have some of the best handicappers on the net here, we simply have some of the finest people, period. ;)

...maybe I can make it out to the Superbowl party next year. :D

Nick--Thanks. I have a co-writer on the project and we are debating the ending. It will probably be a couple of weeks before we are ready to put together a solid pitch.

Email me what you have if you'd like. Always remember that the ending is the most important part by far. Biggest mistake I see is people who have a good/great idea and then just try to throw an ending on it. Remember that the ending has to be satisfying and it has to resolve the core value of the story. Good luck.

I had to laugh when I read this thread because the first thing that came to my mind was when my husband refered to the people at Mad Jacks " LIKE FAMILY "for the 1st time which was long befor I even knew anyone from here!!!!!!!!! I was a little pissed at 1st because I wasn't aware!!!!! Not to mention All I knew was that my husband was spending countless hours here and when he tried to explain the family thing I just didn't get it back then.........LMAO I have since met and befriended some really great people and as well enjoy the site . Sometimes my learking in at madjacks turns into hours now too . :D

FOOD FOR THOUGHT- if you try to explain the FAMILY thing to your girlfriends or wives they most likely won't get it , they might even try to throw something at you LOL because most of you spend a ton of time here I think you need to be here to understand so if you try anyway and she throws something at you , don't say I didn't warn you.................. :p

BTW- dawgball I am also looking forward to the SB party this year too.........:D There are so many people, characters I would love to meet in person..............:)

Right on, T.

Nick--I may email you the first 10 pages. "They" say that is what will make or break getting the rest read.

Would you like that?

T You'll like brother Dawg. Had the good fortune to share bout 1/2 hour and few brews at Rafferties with him few years back.

Thread got me to thinking how I ran into Jack and it dates back when he just started a bulliten board type forum many moons ago. His site was down for a while and he and some of his members stopped by a little site a few of us had to relay their messages till their site was back up. He went on an unbelievable run on his selections and made lots of friends there.Stopped to visit when his site was back up and ran into IE who simply amazed me at the fact if given 4 hours there was not a question he could not answer. The rest is history.
Thinking back it brings back memories of another great capper I had forgotten about.
Jack do you remember the Canadian that went by the name Crippler. What an awesome dude. Wonder what ever happened to him. Remember when they sent beard to Vegas to lay an obscene amount of money on fight. Wow that seems like ions ago!!!!!

dawgball,

Here's what I would say about first ten. I would say in the vast, vast majority of cases you can tell a bad screenplay in the first ten. Certainly if they are bad that does get readers to either look very negatively at the rest of the script or even just skip to the end and pass on it.

The problem with what you are doing is that the start of the script is the easiest part to write. My first script, which in hindsight needed a heck of a lot of work, was called by a friend of mine who is an assistant, "The funniest 35 pages I've read so far [since starting work as an assistant]." A good start means nothing if the ending isn't good so get the outline together first.

Of course I will read what you've got and let you know what I think, but work on the entire outline first and foremost. Good luck.

Thanks for the advice, Nick. I will be hitting you up for a more experienced view more often in the future. I'm going to need it!
