Its tough to beat a basic Weber kettle grill. Around $100 and will last 25 years if kept out of the rain. If you are getting back into coal I would get a chimney coal starter too. Never need lighter fluid again.

You can smoke bbq in them too.

If you have the cash, I'd get an egg though.

I considered an egg, but have stuck with my black weber 19". Thing works like a champ, and like you, I use a chimney starter. I refuse to use lighter fluid or match light coals. I spent less than $100 and use it almost every weekend. I might get an egg down the line, but want to design my outdoor kitchen first to see what size egg would work for me.
