That's like saying Butler deserved a #1 seed b/c look, here they are in the final game. People's logic amazes me.

I have no problem with Duke getting a #1 seed. They were a really good team and have just had unbelievable luck in their matchups.

Very average non-conf schedule followed by a very average at best ACC to give an inflated record. The biggest break they got from the tourney committee was putting Purdue in their bracket a #4 seed with the big injury from a couple weeks before.

Then come some upsets, so they avoid teams like Villanova and Kentucky and let's not forget WVa was without their point guard just like Purdue was without one of their best players.

And then waiting on the other side...Butler. I mean, this Duke team is good, but I've never seen a season and postseason set up so easy for a team in my life. Not to mention Baylor got royally dicked.

This argument is made every year about teams and what they deserved to be ranked and how the seeding was wrong. I think that the committe usually does a pretty good job and this year was tough to decide the last #1 and also the 2's, 3's, and 4's of the tournament. Overall I agree that duke had some good breaks, but they also have shot lights out and pretty much handled everyteam in their way. They are deserving to be where they are. If kentucky or villanova shoulda been there, then they woulda.

purdue won the big ten, cal the pac ten, baylor whipped texas 3 times. duke had to play baylor in texas. was that fair?
baylor had the lead 61-60 even after that call which by the way is a judgement call. remember unc getting the phantom travel charge on villanova that handed roy his first title? remember the hose job rhode island got by ref not calling tripping call?

Lowell....please read or understand or something.

Yes, Purdue won the Big Ten, but they lost their best player a week or 2 before the season ended. I agree they deserve a seed based on their season, but how fortuitous that they end up a high seed in Duke's bracket. They weren't the same team.

Cal won the Pac 10. Carolina could have won the Pac 10...give me a break.

No kidding Baylor had the lead...they would have extended the lead by 2 or 3 points and put Thug on the bench with 5 fouls. In other words, Duke would have lost that game.

get over it. he fouled out a few minutes later and baylor had the lead 61-60. what about the 2 techincals refs missed on baylor? whine about those missed calls also. last year pitt may have beaten unc but nova got lucky and won on last shot. they did not have inside player like blair to match up. a few years ago illinois had injured player versus unc. luck happens to all teams that win title. keep dreaming that baylor was robbed. what should duke do if they win monday? give title back because you did not like their draw? jealousy does not become you mr. jesus on this easter morning. if you don't like this duke team wait til irving, curry hairston, felix and thornon join the team next year. can you say " back to back" titles again for the rat?

Can't discuss with someone so ignorant. As a Duke fan, be grateful every game the "rules" are not enforced.

take the time to check out the article at wvmetronews.com go to the sports article that says "its over". butler states zoubek had position and he planted his left foot too hard as he was trying to slide to the left. no blaming or whining like someone i know. guess you know better than butler.

Still trying to figure out how on multiple occasions, these guards are able to floor the 7'2 giant.

Dude, he runs to a spot, usually gets there late, and flops. Yet on the other end, its always a block for Duke.

I know your a fan, but its true. They get almost every single call.

The hanging on the rim technical on Plumlee was also ridiculous, and no way that gets called in a close game.

Lowell you as well as anybody that knows anything about sports knows in a tight game the refs can dictate the outcome and who wins by calling fouls. We all know there are certain teams that will always get the calls in a tight game. Hell the Lakers would have less titles if the game was called fair. Now that being said duke played a hell of a game yesterday! I dont like or dislike duke but they are one of the teams that get the benefit of all the judgement calls. Would they have beat Baylor without all those judgement calls going there way. There is no way that was a charge you know that! You know your basketball man so just say it was a bad call and could have been a game changer. They call a touch foul on the perimeter which they could call any possession on any team in a critical situation and it is for duke. They guy shanks free throw and it was a clear over the back not called and duke hit the three. Trust me I have coached many years and the refs in a tight game can determine the outcome. Now not hating on duke at all but I think in a single elimation to get to the championship you have to be a very good team, you have to have some luck, and you have to get the calls in a tight game late. The reason people hate duke and the lakers to name a few is because they get every call in a tight game. Duke played a hell of a game yesterday against a very physical wv d. How do they shoot 9 throws in that game but 29 in the baylor game. How many times in the NBA in 7 game series against the same team do you see a team played at home shoot 30 plus throws and go on the road and shoot 15. Lowell your a great guy but if you dont think baylor was fuked in that duke game you lose a lot of credibility man.

Great post Guru.

I've watched so many football and basketball games over the years and one of the biggest things I've learned (long ago) is just how valuable every possession is and how a play or a call at a certain time can not only change the game but affect the rest of the game.

The casual fan will say "its only one call" and sometimes that's right. But so many times it changes the game and with so much parity in sports today, a few calls in favor of one team is downright huge.

Teams like Duke literally survive on these "little breaks" game in and game out every year. Yes, UNC has gotten their fair share and I do hate it, but with Duke its down to a science and I just don't know who their "fooling" or why other than ratings, etc.

Guys like Scheyer and Zoubek could not survive on other good teams but on Duke they star with their style of play and flops, etc.

Breaks my heart to know this team is going to win it all. Devalues the hell out of the word championship.

IMO this years champion will be the worst 'championship' team in recent memory. Can you see either of these two hanging with the Carolina or Florida teams that won it all? Hell no, they would get blown out bigtime.

twerps in 2002 and duke/butler in 2010

two historically average teams in two horrible years for college basketball.

fans of those teams wont care, but facts are facts.
