Good point. Not gonna be the same without the Colts contending this year.

You think they tank and go for Luck??

They may not have to tank to be honest with you. Just don't have a lot of faith in Kerry Collins. My guess is it's Houston's Division to lose now.

I think they definitely have to look to the future now for a QB.

Lots of doom and gloom on the internet and talk radio right now. Comments about "career ending", etc. I'm not ready to go that far yet, but not many years ahead of him anyway, now you throw this into the equation....

I'm wondering how many of those doctors have already told him to hang up the cleats or face the possibility of a wheelchair for his retirement.

There is no sense continuing the career. For what, money?

I will say it may be close to career ending. Ask anyone who has been involved with several neck surgeries and this will linger on for the rest of his career etc. Many say scar tissue becomes the biggest issue. Your neck is not a knee. Big difference. One compressive hit could result in paralysis.

Many ?'s about his future will need to be answered before he returns to the field. Not many players play on after neck surgery.

About Luck. I think if the team was going to tank they wouldn't have signed Collins. This is a major blow though to the team as a whole. I expect them to be walking zombies for the entire season. 3-13 and bring on Andrew Luck that is the only thing that can be salvaged out of this season now.

Collins my surprise everyone including myself.. He gives us a better chance to win than any of the stiffs we currently had.

This sucks for us Colts fans.

Talking about this in the office right now. Obviously none of us are doctors, but our thinking is that all it would take is one solid hit from Ray Lewis, DeMeco Ryans, etc. and it would be a career.

Will be interesting to see how this plays out over the next few months. I see that the Colts are not putting him on IR just yet. Seems to me that it's just a matter of time.

That's true love him or hate him,it's sad for the game like rolltide said....I have addai as one of my fantasy running backs and i guess he just became more valuable for that team

Don't know if you watch Inside the NFL, but Mike Lombardi listed Michael Irvine and three other big names who had to retire as a result of nerve damage.

just outside of D.C.
Could be wrong, but might be the same issue that Daryl "moose" Johnson faced? Granted, he was a fullback, but QB's get hit ALOT as well!

Sucks for the NFL in many ways.....a true field general!

Don't know much about the injury.....but not good! I would bet he doesn'tplay this season.....if ever!

Call me crazy...but Carson Palmer has been practicing with Ken O'Brien last 3 weeks...I think Indy/Cincy make a trade for Carson Palmer!! :popcorn2 :0074

ESPN's Chris Mortensen is reporting that Peyton Manning had surgery this morning - cervical fusion with 2-3 month minimum recovery. No word on whether he will be put on IR.

What in the world is 'cervical fusion'? Sounds like he's getting a sex change or something lol

Inb4 Peyton brown-nosers bash me for that comment.
