Reports say 7 year deal

No surprise the reports about Penn St didn't make sense. No way does Meyer want to get involved in something that messy. That could take years to turnaround with current recruits either bailing or holding off.

Meyer quit on Florida becasue he knew Florida had their run and other teams were passing up him and the Gators.

Might be alot easier in the Big 10.

What a great hire this would be for them. Big 10 is on the upswing these days with Michigan looking better(recruiting and on the field). If Penn State could pull a big name hire then things would be looking very good for the conference. Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State and Nebraska all being good would mean very big money.

Question for those who know, is Ohio State not getting hit with some big penalties for all of that crap that went on?

layinwood, the general sentiment is that OSU will likely not receive a bowl ban. Jim Delaney (B10 commish) carries a big stick and is vehemently protecting his cash cow behind the scenes.

Meyer saying deal isn't done or signed.

In the world of sports that means it is an absolute done deal but he wants to announce it on his timetable.

I do agree with some above about Meyer. To me he quit on the Gators when things were going to get tough. It is almost like he didn't want to work through the potential tough times but rather quit and then wait for another good situation to come along and OSU is it.

Not a big fan of his but his record speaks for itself.

Ohio but not a Buckeye
I think he struggles. The type of athletes to fit his system aren't around here. There's a few here and there, but there isn't the burners and pick of the litter like he had down south. On top of the fact the system he runs isn't BIG 10 worthy.

I hope he falls on his face. Like others have said, he quit of Florida.

He's won everywhere he's been and places like Utah didn't have Florida athletes. He'll do very well with recruiting and be in the top 5 year in and year out. I hate Ohio State but he's a top coach in every way and will win there.

Ohio St doesn't get athletes? Check out the rosters of the NFL and I think you'll see they've had as many athletes as anyone. Also, the former coach who isn't half the game manager Urban is made it to 3 Natl championships and 7 BCS bowls. Urban will rule at Ohio St.

I took a peek at the current leaders in the NFL on the OFFENSIVE side of the ball to see the impact players who have come from OHIO STATE.

here is what I found..

2011 Season Leaders

Runnin Backs
http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/stats/b...timeframe=ToDate&sort=17&old_category=Rushing
51 ranked..
1 OHIO STATE PLAYER..
Bennie Wells ranked #15 among 51
621 yards..69 yards per game

WIDE RECEIVERS
http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/stats/b...timeframe=ToDate&sort=17&old_category=Rushing
51 RANKED

1 OHIO STATE PLAYER

Santonio Holmes ranked #49 of 51

472 yards..47.2 yards a game

I didn't check QB's ...someone can fill in the blank for a QB from Ohio St. who is making a contribution at the position this year.

a small sampling from one school..it may well prove out that major instuitions of learning only have 1 or maybe 2 Offensive players from each who make the squad who are called upon to throw..run or catch the ball as their job in the NFL..

I for one would be very interested to know if it is the average or below average number of producers..

just food for thought..

It's my humble opinion that bluechip throwers..rushers..receivers no longer go North to freeze their ass off when they have 30 colleges to choose from that get all the TV time and all the media coverage they would ever need to make the impact to get the attention of Pro Scouts..those 30 colleges a lot further South have sun tanned hotties everyday and beautiful weather at least 7 months out of the year.

again just food for thought..

If someone has a current up todate list NFL players by the college they were drafted from I am sure there are many of us who would interested in seeing it.

"Keep Smiling"..
