Nothing like coming back from a 40th Birthday weekend celebration to find out Ive been let go. Have successfully ran a large Golf retail store for the past 12 years. Thanks economy! No loyalty at all. Owner thinks he can bring is someone else cheaper to turn things around. No raise for 7 years , even when business was booming, but now that nobody is spending money, they can drop me like a bad habit. I have 12 years of Golf Retail Management if anyone can shoot me a lead. Willing to relocate. Not sure Wtf I'm gonna do now. I have always felt things happen for a reason and have never doubted God's path, but this sucks.

Positive vibes and prayers welcome...

Damn, Mully, that's tough. Sorry you have to deal with this - I know I dealt with the same kind of thing, and decided to change career course completely. Hoping for the best for you.

Been to the unemployment office yet? Then get on Monster.com, and try going to Indeed.com and type in the kind of job you are looking for. Good that you can relocate so easily.

Also, in an interview, show your passion for the industry by letting your personality come through. Good luck, Slugger.

Sorry to hear Mully. I know how you feel as I got layed off for the first time in my 35 year work history 4 months ago due to the piece of shit economy. Found another job but for half the pay and went from a project manager to crew supervisor. The golfing industry has been hit hard here as well. Stay positive and start hitting the pavement looking. I found it to be a job looking for another job.
Best of Luck!

Did you get a notice or any severance? Sucks that owners did this after 12 years.

I lost my job 2 years ago and now have found a great job. You got choices now but sign up for all the Obama Retirement Plan (unemployment). It may not be much but it can help you out.

After selling insurance and building an awesome book of business for 7 years, company sold and lost my gig. 10 days before X-mas. The whole thing led me to coaching basketball which had never crossed my mind. Every day for 5 years now I can't wait to get to work!

You'll be fine, and better off too it sounds like. Lots of good jobs in golf rep biz and more. Think outside the box. Email me if you want, would love to talk shop!
