Lottery in North Carolina

North Carolina has finally gotten a lottery. I'm glad. What I hate is the way it got passed. It was voted down twice in the last few weeks.
While on a break, they decided they needed to have an "emergency" re-convening. They voted again and the lottery passed by a single vote.
Coincidentally, there were two people not there. One was on his honeymoon and the other was sick. Both were against the lottery.
Amazing. And people wonder why I don't vote.

I guess I know shit like this goes down all the time in politics. I think its just the fact that its written right there on the front page of the paper and no one seems to be outraged by it. No real mention of how crooked it is in the paper, on the news, or anywhere. I hope they all rot in hell. And they probably will.

Now your residents don't have to drive across the state border to buy lottery tickets...gone are the days when someone was "going across the border" and they were getting gobs of tickets for thier neighbors and family....

Oh yeah, believe me, I'm all for the lottery. For several reasons including what you say.
I just hate the way it got passed and no one cares when seeing 100% proof of crooked politicians. Everyone that voted without taking a stand and not saying that a vote shouldn't happen is crooked.
Whether a lottery is good or not shouldn't replace democracy. I might as well live in Russia.

Yeah I was hoping it would get passed but am surprised it did. The state loses so much money to VA and SC it's about damn time.

Saint, I love that picture. I might even have to become a Bobcats fan now. I'm from Garner and live in Cary now. Been a Tar Heel fan all my life. Are you in Chapel Hill?
Man, I won $50 on Va. Tech, but more than that I got to see State lose. I don't think I've ever hated a team worse. Maybe FSU. I can't stand Amato.
He's been given way more advantages than any other Wolfpack coach and he's gotten a lot of talent, but man they are crap. They have no discipline, they get penalties, they do stupid shit to cost them games. He's just way too aggressive and it shows.
And, State loves him. When is he going to finish better than 4th in the conference?
Dick Sheridan was a way better coach. But no one at State realizes that.
