come on scott

come on scott

Last year USC clearly was the best team in the nation

i have read most of your stuff and i have responded to some of it, but after reading the quote above my suspicions have been confirmed. I now know for a fact that you type this sh*t to elicit the response you always get...I bet you and the fellas there at SoCal sit back and laugh at us all how we respond and argue with you, when you are just trying to get that exact response. How do I know you don't believe the shit you type? well, there are many reasons but the one posted above is the clincher.

I will be the first to admit USC was playing well last year and they were a hot team. Were they "clearly" the best team in the country? not a freaking chance. were they the best? maybe they were in january, maybe they weren't. fact is, if they wouldn't have lost 2 games they could have proven what you claim....but they didn't and you are simply wrong with that one.

and this year USC is clearly the 2nd best team in nation "so far". The next 2 years will be NC runs by USC. Good times at USC

now, if the first quote and explanation didn't prove that scott is messing with us, then re-read this one. Can anybody, mainly scott, tell me how USC is "clearly" the 2nd best team right now? if that was the case, oh wise one still in search of your finance degree, why are we arguing with you? if that were the case, nobody would be on here calling you a homer, an idiot, a dumbshit, and all the other fitting names that have been thrown out there. we would simply say that usc is good, ou is good, and we all can't wait for the matchup.

and, if i could somehow book those bets for you about usc and the title i would love to do it. unfortunately that isn't going to happen so i have to let you give away the 2 grand that you feel 75% confident about. but then again, looking at that weak-ass schedule for next year you might be on to something.

also, i don't have a link to post, but just like you say the "opinion" polls point to a desired USC-OU mathcup, i think there are a few polls that show that USC-ND isn't the greatest rivalry in college foots. if i remember correctly, i think it was (and should be) OSU-Michigan. either way, i love how what you feel/believe is somehow fact, and not the mindless subjective crap that it truly is.

either way, your posts are entertaining and I am sure i will keep reading them...what i won't do is to continue to believe that you believe the shit you type. I hope it all plays out as you say it will simply so SC can get into with OU. then, if they get half a hundred hung on them you can tell us the reasons why they lost similar to how you have with the cal loss...and then you can also admit you were messing with us all.

Scott,

You talk about weak schedules and how tough USC's schedule is. That is crap! Also, don't give me this BS about how the "top" conferences should start a playoff system. If the conferences were ranked, the PAC-10 would not be in the top 5 IMO and I think more in here would agree. THey would not be ahead of the SEC, Big 12, Big 10, ACC, or the Big East. Oh, I am sick of hearing you talk about LA-Monroe that LSU beat, so take a look at this:

USC lost to mighty and I think you said, "well-coached" Cal who by the way, has 6 losses instead of 5.

Cal lost to Kansas St.
Kansas St. lost to Marshall
Marshall lost to Troy St.
Troy St. lost to MTSU
MTSU lost to Utah St.
Utah St. lost to New Mex. St.
NMSt. lost to UL Lafayette
UL Lafayette lost to UL MONROE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

INDIRECT BABY!!

Also, this crap about USC being the best team in the nation last year. SHUT THE F*** UP!!! That is rediculous!! YOU REALLY ARE AN IDIOT!!

USC was the best team in the nation last year. I am not alone in thinking this. MANY people believed USC was the best team at the end of the year. DO you have to agree? NO. But i am 90% sure USC would have beaten any team in the nation last year. Too bad USC had the #1 toughest schedule and lost 2 close game early in season (when USC was not rolling).

I also "believe" USC is the 2nd best team in the nation this year. DO you have to agree? NO. USC is not the same team that lost to CAL. I know Ohio St. would not beat USC, and LSU i don't "think" would beat USC either. OU is the only team that i think can beat USC. I am not predicting upsets, i am just predicting on who should be favored to win.

Remember, USC has heard all these same comments and i have been called homer so many times before. GUess what, USC proved everyone wrong. So keep calling me homer because i have confidence in USC. You will be proven wrong like all the others were.

I'll give you great example. ND2002HORNS called me a Homer for predicting a double digit USC victory over AU. I gave great matchups and write-ups on that game and what i said happened. NY REB even congratulated me on one of these threads on how right i was. SO KEEP CALLING ME A HOMER! lol. Now i am not saying i know everything or what i say is fact. If you read my writings, i say "think."

You guys really get threatened by my USC write-ups. I wonder why? Maybe you fear USC's dominance back in college football. These last 2 years were not suppose to be NC run years for USC. The next 2 are suppose to be. This is only Carrolls 3rd year at USC, yep, only 3rd year. He is still building!

Do I take offense at any of your postings? Hell no. Why? The reason is I know how good USC is and compared to teams across the nation USC stands out above. I am not threatened by anyone else or other teams. GET USED TO USC ON THE TOP OF COLLEGE FOOTBALL! Like it or not.

WE ARE, SC!!!!!!!!!!!

FIGHT ON!!!!!!!!!!!

I said USC was the best team in the nation. Did not say USC deserved to play in the NC game. Big difference.

scott you keep saying that the only team that can beat usc is OU, but it is quite obvious that even a team like california can beat usc. usc can lose either of their last two games. will they....odds say probably not, but there are a LOT of teams that CAN beat USC. That is why they play the games my friend.

...geeze, enough already.... on any given saturday (or thursday, wednesday or friday), any team can beat any other team.... with all of the upsets this year thusfar, you'd think that everyone would observe this fact.... :nooo:

...how many of you had Tenn upsetting Miami? How about W. Vir upsetting Va Tech??? How about Marshall over K. St??? ...we could go on ad infinitum.... can we all agree on this and get back to handicapping this week's games, instead of arguing over who will or won't be able to beat USC???

...shit, on the right day, Tennessee could lay the smack down on USC...under the right circumstances...hell, most any team could if Cal could...in the right circumstances....

...just my 2 cents. :D

edit: shit, let's just get a playoff system and end the speculation once and for all!!! ;)

USC and OU are 2 teams with a lot more tradition than LSU

This was the clincher for me, personally. You clearly have no knowledge of teams outside the state of California.

#5 USC was playing #12 ND in the biggest rivalry in the country

Laughable, at best. You are begining to show your age. You sound like you have been an avid sports fan for about 3-4 years.

Best of Luck USC!!

Stuman "Laughable, at best." :nono:

Every matchup between the Trojans and the Irish is a sold-out affair and is on more televisions in America?s homes than any other college football game. It is the definition of ?rivalry.?

This year was their 75th meeting.

Since 1965, the ND-USC game has been nationally televised on 30 occasions (including the 2003 game).

The rivalry between USC and Notre Dame has been celebrated as the greatest in college football, fondly referred to and remembered by Trojan and Domer alike as magical...storied...classic...and history-shaping.

The USC-Notre Dame rivalry pits titan against titan, tradition against tradition, legend against legend: Hollywood vs. Heartland. Traveler vs. Leprechaun. Fight Song vs. Victory March. Song Girl vs___ (well, there really is no ND rival to the SC Song Girls!)

It has become the greatest intersectional college football rivalry ever.

Whether the rivalry was the result of wives, weather, or a combination of both, history recorded the first-ever USC-Notre Dame meeting on December 4, 1926, with the Irish edging the Trojans 13-12.

Don't let me get into the # of NC's each team has, Heismans, Bowl wins, All time victories, # of times these 2 teams cost each other National Championships, # of times this rivalry game decided the National Championship, last year the USC vs ND was the most watched NCAA football game last year. Too much fuel to put on the fire. :D

Keel laughing Stuman.

I copied and pasted some of this info from various sports articles.

FIGHT ON!!!!!!!!!!

dont get me wrong OSU is not great by an stretch this year, but they were last year, no doubt undeniably.. they beat miami and they were considered to be the best and OSU was the only team that did not lose.. Sorry Scott your team "may?" be better than mine this year, but you are a fuc*ing idiot as everyone else on this forum has pointed out to you in this thread which is 54 posts long.. That being said USC is not nearly as good as you make them out to be... and I also love how everyone continues to underestimate ohio state, with good reason but they have still only lost 1 game in 2 years, against a good schedule... so screw you scott

Addtionally, while it can be argued which may be the best rivalry, i think most would agree that OSU V Michigan is better than USC V Notre Dame..

I said I wouldn't get involved in this again this year because their are just too, way too many Ohio St haters here at MadJack's, BUT

Last yr we heard all the same stuff only it was some idiot hyping michigan until Ohio St beat em then it was iowa then it was miami as you can read in my signature line yadaa yadaa yadaa

Now I don't know how it will go in the next couple of weeks, BUT I KNOW THIS, IF OHIO ST WINS OUT THEY WILL PLAY FOR THE NAT'L CHAMPIONSHIP.

I'm not predicting they will, just saying if they do it is a certainty and you don't have to be a Ohio St homer or a mental giant, just look at their schedule and who they have beat.

Now as far as LSU goes I can see their fans point of view, but unless Ohio St or Oklahoma falters there is no way they make it.

But they would be ahead of USC, Scott I'm sorry, but you are just too comical. I live in So Cal and I WILL PREDICT THIS. USC WILL LOSE AT LEAST ONE OF THEIR LAST 3 GAMES.

Now all the Ohio St haters can start as I will not be here to answer because after last year it was proved ON THE FIELD WHERE IT COUNTS THAT THE OHIO ST BUCKEYES WERE THE BEST.

And it will be settled there again this year.

CTown: I actually defended Ohio State this year against USC as the #'s don;t lie but I think LSU could overtake Ohio State down the stretch. They don't have an easy schedule by any means & winning a conference championship esepcially against a possibly ranked BCS team would be huge for them. I don't see why they should get snubbed.

I can't believe I'm wasting my time with this reply, but I'll leave you with this...

USC / ND matchup is certainly a great rivalry.

The only point everyone here is trying to make is that you shouldn't make such blanket statements like the ones I quoted in my previous post. Doing so makes you sound like a homer.

For example, there is another great rivalry that also started in 1926. Its called the egg bowl, maybe you've heard of it. But considering the fact that its outside the pac 10 and the fact that you are about 19 years old, maybe not. This game doesn't carry quite as much hype as your beloved USC/ND game, but has just as much history nonetheless... You say yours is the biggest rivalry in the country, yet provide ZERO information and facts for the other rivals. (like you provided for the USC / ND rivalry) This is why everyone is on your case. Auburn and Alabama have been facing off since 1893, but do you hear any chest pounding homers claiming its the best rivalry game? If you are judging great rivalries based on the number of years of history, then I just buried you... What about the Michigan / Ohio St. rivalry? It has been played since 1897.

As for the tradition comment, EVERY team in the SEC has been playing ball since the late 1800's. Yes, please give me a lecture on tradition...

Try to show a little class and stop being such a homer. Listening to you, it sounds like USC is the best football team, in the best conference, has the best SOS, the best rivalry game, the best players, etc. See what you sound like? Am I getting through to you? Do you know what the term "homer" means? Being a huge fan is one thing, but you will NEVER convince other fans of your beliefs. Still, you continue on, as if you are going convince all of us how great and indestructable USC is! Do a little reading and homework. Football does exist outside the PAC 10!

Best of luck to USC this year!

The BCS was the biggest heaven sent-gift wrapped lucky charm that propelled Ohio St. to "win" one good game and a national championship after scrapping by mediocre teams all year. Now after slumming against more mediocre talent for ten weeks, and after pulling out wins with a ridiculous 9 game home schedule against the likes of SDSU, they're demanding another gift wrapped Championship game again. The pollsters know better.

Today I heard IF computers still considered margin of victory, OSU would have 7.0 on that component. Right now they have like a 1.4 in computers. Geezuz how ridiculous. They'd be out of it and SC would control its destiny if not for the stupid decision to take margin of victory out. Obviously that plays a role in evaluating the strength of a team.

Yes, OSU won the NC last year and they were the champions. Does not mean they were the best team team in the nation last year. USC was! In the championship game, Miami did have 5 turnovers, lost #1 RB, Dorsey hurt in OT, questionable PI or Miami would hve won, OSU convert key 4th and long to keep drive going, for OSU to win that game. Congrats to OSU!

It is true, if OSU wins out, they most likely will pass USC. Especially if WSU does not finish top 5 BCS. OSU will need a loss from LSU though. If LSU runs table, i don't know if that will be enough to pass USC. Their SOS will get a lot stronger, but will it be enough to pass USC since USC is ahead in the polls. I don't think so.

Should be interesting what happens the rest of the year.
