agree regarding some lsu fans as well but pretty sure there are fans like that at most schools who have tasted success

and totally asinine imo to hate saban as he is the one who revived the entire program- he thought he wanted to take the next logical step as a hc, he didn't like it, the f'ing bama job became available, he took it - why wouldnt he ? bc he used to coach at lsu? i am still a big saban fan without him lsu may have not returned to national prominence at this point

so anyway, back to the question- was o a good idea? if the alternative was miles then yes - hopefully lsu can get healthier from this point forward and have their freshman contributors (of which there are many) grow and improve - and hopefully canada and offense are able to improve quickly

there are a lot of teams that would have lost that game in starkville the other night - would have been nice for lsu to have played better but i for one am ready to throw that one out and look ahead to what i hope will be a respectable season - 8 9 wins and a bowl win in year one would have to be considered a success for any sane person

I guess to clarify - signing off on O instead of trying to hire someone else after the season was over? Granted there weren't a ton of great options out there but I would have never seen O as a best option for permanent HC. Hell the guy got passed over for interim>full-time HC at USC for Sarkisian.

once they misfired on Herman and Fisher they kind of got backed into a wall so may have not been the best long term option but at that point he was probably the best option and may have been the only option

hoping for best and think the leash needs to be a little longer than 1 SEC game into the season
