LSU/Ole Miss thoughts

As a HUGE LSU fan I am aware that they have a great Defense led by the #1 D line in the nation and a group of LBs and Dbs with tons of speed and discipline. I realize that LSU has a heady QB in charge of an Offense loaded with talent. The top 3 wideouts are as good as any 3 out there and these guys are also a huge asset to the running game because of their blocking ability. I know that LSU O line is very strong and physical and they protect QB Mauck better than any team in the SEC. The stable of RBs is deep. Frosh Justin Vincent has taken the starting role, but powerful Frosh Alley Brousard, shifty JR Shy Carrey, and original starter Joe Addai are all more than capable of getting the job done. #3 WR Skyler Green is a stud punt returner leading nation @ nearly 25 yds/return. Also, D. Jones is among the best punters in the nation and LSU kick coverage teams are among the SEC leaders.

All that being said, I would not lay the points this weekend. I will be in Oxford and I expect the win, but Ole Miss has always played us well in BIG games. As most of you know, anything can happen on the field and Eli Manning may just be the guy to get it done against this vaunted Tiger Defense. Off of a bye week I expect that Ole Miss will be prepared for the Tiger pass rush.

Should be a great game.

Ole Miss with rest, with revenge, winning record and a home dog. I had the results for a system that this qualifies for with some pretty good numbers. Throw in the fact that it is a rivalry game and LSU?s second straight road game and there?s no way you can justify laying anything with the Tigers. They could win and they may even blow them out, but it?s not what would be expected.

I WILL TAKE MY CHANCES

I WILL TAKE MY CHANCES

With 7 points...and ELI MANNING, I am going to take my chances. I just don't believe that LSU's defense will completely shut ELI out. He will play and have a good game. I see Ole Miss scoring between 30 and 40 points. The question will be if Ole Miss can keep LSU from scoring 30-60. I think with the significance of the game, Ole Miss's defense comes to play.

I see this game being won by a FG, but I do believe that LSU will pull it out.

OLE MISS +7 (bought 1/2 pt) 3 units

huh? :nono:

LSU is giving up 8.9 pts/game. How can you say that Ole Miss will score that much. I know Eli is good, but come one. They only scored 20 against Florida. We will be able to apply pressure with our front 4 and will disguise our blitz packages. Eli may become confused. LSU is scoring at an average of 34.8 pts/gm. Only 1 pt less than Ole Miss. Don't forget Ole Miss's d is not that good. This game will be in the total range of 40.

I see it 21-17 LSU.

I'll be arriving in Oxford @ 7am Saturday. Let me know where to locate your camp and I'll definitely stop in for a brew.

I have won many games either going for against my Bayou Bengals. Nobody can run on LSU....... However, passing is a different game. LSU can't stop the pass. The key to beating LSU is thowing the ball. The Tigers are in for a Very Long Saturday Night. They will either escape with a win or they will get beat by a TD or more. I could see Ole Miss winning this game buy 10 points easily. LSU has one loss this season and that came at the hands of the Gators. The Gators were able to beat LSU by passing. They didnt even have a great passing game that day and were still able to spank the Tigers. You have one of the Nations Top scoring offenses going and I just dont see LSU's passing "D" keeping Manning down.

Geoegia threw all over LSU for 314 yards and probably should have beat LSU but with 3 turn overs and 3 missed FG's you simply just cant win.

If teams realize that LSU has a weak secondary and they can pass on this team LSU would not be where they are today.

Just my thought but I think the Tigers are in for a Very Very Long Night.

I like the Rebels in a upset

You make a good point. LSU has a tendancy to blow assignments in the secondary. Has happened all season.
Tigers missed the leadership of SS Jack Hunt vs Florida. 2 passes to RBs down the middle of the field against LSU blitzes accounted for both TD's. Ron Zook claimed after the game that they designed that play for LSU. You know what they say," Live by the blitz, die by the blitz".

I expect Ole Miss to exploit the LSU secondary, however a great pass rush is the one thing that LSU has going in its favor regarding the matchup between their pass Defense and Ole Miss Pass Offense.

I agree that this is a good spot to take the points with Ole Miss, however, this Tiger team is ALL BUSINESS when it comes to preparation. These kids are just as focused this week as they were against Bama if not more. It is not every season that you compete for a National Title so I would not expect an emotional letdown because it probably will not happen. Can they be outschemed? Absolutely. Will they be flat? From what I have been told this morning by those close to the program--- no way!!!

This year each team ATS

LSU: 8-1 ATS
Ole Miss: 6-4 ATS

I just think if LSU allows Manning to pass for +300 yards they will not cover this game.

This is a tough game. LSU is playing very good football right now and so are the Rebels. LSU for a National Title??? Yah right. The BCS is all screwed up.

Tigers will win and cover. Trust me.

Also, they will be playing in the Sugar Bowl next January.

No, I'm not a homer (well..., kinda), but just trust me on this one.:SIB ;)

I am the bigest LSU fan as the next guy living here in New Orleans. However, one thing that I have learned through the years is NEVER bet with your heart. I hope your right, I hope LSU wins.

Yes, LSU is loaded with young talent and the Sugar Bowl is a very good chance NEXT YEAR........

I will be releasing Ole Miss +6.5 to my members for 3 Units.

Altough, I love the Tigers I will be happy with a win. I assure you LSU would want the same as well. They will be really happy to escape with a win.

I am happy with a THRILLER as long as the Tigers have more points than the Rebels and its not more than 6

Best of Luck and remember never bet with your heart. Hearts were made to be broken.

Cajun, thanks for sharing one of your paying plays with us. I follow the SEC pretty closely, and over the past few years Ole Miss has played LSU very closely, being 4-1 ATS in the last 5. I like Ole Miss a lot in this spot, and it's nice to know that you, there in Bayou territory, feel the same way. Good luck this weekend. You're pretty consistently good with your plays, and one of the more genuine services in my opinion.

Never underestimate the oddsmaker! A 3.5 road fav or better is amost always the much better team...however, this game is what college football is all about...it doesn't get any beter than this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
