Iona pk or -1 over Marist
I played it last nite thinking the big bucks will be coming in on Iona today. The line is off but I do know why.I'll give reasons why I "Luv" Iona today. But Iona on the road are terrible. They are 2-5 with losses to Rider by 11,Niagara 12,Siena 10,Manhattan 5,and Fairfield 5.But those teams are the upper class of the MAAC except Rider and they are hot now.
But Marist at home was once invinceable. But this yr they lost to Rider,Siena,Niagara,Manhattan,Fairfield by 13,13,8,8 and 9.You have heard me say 15 times this yr about no post players,no interior defense,no depth, etc.Thats common knowledge.Magarity in every TV interview talks about it.
Iona owns McCann Arena. They have won up here in Poughkeepsie 10 of the last 11 times. It is Senior Day.So the first 2 minuts the Foxes have some adrelin.
But this game is about matchups, not Vegas people putting numbers on it.Marist is in trouble today.Iona has the best young talent in the MAAC.Ruland has started 4 freshmen for over 20 games. But he has abandon that. It's closer to the "dance" so he is going out with his best.
Foxes have 2 decent gds.Ellerbee and Bennett.Bennett had 42 pts the other nite vs Peter breaking a record in McCann hitting 5 tre's.[By the way the HS record is 7 in 1995 by one of my players]
Hood the frosh spells time for them.Eppehimer is a 6'8 2 gd forced to play the 3,4 and 6.Handy is a 6'8 Morman from Utah that is soft and does not like to rebound. That leaves Young their 6'7 fd playing the post.He has a nice inside shot and can hit a 8' footer. After that they have nothing.Zero.No subs,or depth.so they play with 6 people.
Iona comes in loaded. With McCullough and Solivar these 2 frosh gds are refined and can play. They pass, shoot, penetrate, etc.Fields leads the team in everything.Smith is a stud.In their 1st game when Iona beat marist 88-74 he had 24 pts and 14 bds.The other nite Smith had 24 and shot 10-10 from the field.Inside he is unstopable. And with no interior D the Foxes have no one to stop him.Throw in Hinson who has come alive the 2nd half.he is there top shot blocker and slammer.
Ruland has 5 gds to attack Bennett and Ellerbee. He has an inside presence to attack the paint.Foxes will play the 3-2 and 2-3 zone defense. They have to.But Iona has Woffard,McC,Solivar,Fields, etc that can all shoot.
Both this teams lead the MAAC on FG%.But Marist doesn't have the defense to stop Iona.
Game is televised and on a 2 hour delay.I will watch the game and not peek to see who won.So many of you will be "cursing me out"while I innocently watch the game.Hopefully that won't happen and Iona wins this by 8-10 pts.Iona needs this game to because 4th place in the MAAC gets a 1st round bye.5th place means you have to win 4 str games to win the tourney.Iona is 10-5 with Niagara and Siena at 9-6.Iona has MC and Loy-Md on the road left.Win today and I think clinch 4th[not 100% sure]
I don't play to many "luv" games.Everthing has to fit and the numbers have to be right.Yest almost had a luv game with Miami O over Buffalo. But it was a pt or 2 off my scale.I made it a strong play and won big though.Yest I was 5-1 on my strong plays and got lucky and hit 3 parlays.

Like Canisius pk over St Peter
Peter has been playing good but Dux and Mallory are to much.Griffs were a pre-season pick to be on top.But Foster and Moss getting hurt killed their season.Peter wil have no crowd today.

Siena pk over Rider
Just think the saints are overall a better tean.Rider has awoken a little but maybe if Karawanga wakes up the Saints get a close win on the road.

Temple -10.5 over Fordham
Owls match-up zone causes problems for the rams when nobody can shoot.Hill is out next week as the coach. No one likes him, players, coaches, fans, custodians[thats true]etc.Players can't wait for season to be over.

Kentucky -9 over Miss St.. I don't care who their playing.Their defense is "smothering" everyone.I'm not getting off the train until it derails.

Loy -Md +19 over Manhattan. Greyhounds are 8-0 ats with double digits.MC is ranked No1 in offense. But like Kentucky I'm riding the train.I know one of my weakness's is "marrying" team that have been good to you.Guilty as charged.
And by the way no one even commented on NC-Wilma over Towson yest.Wilma covered again.I love Towson.L'box almost went there.

ATS notes.Siena is ranked No 3 out of 233 with a 16-6 record.Kentucky is 14th at 14-8.Canisius 71th 11-9,Fordham 120th at 10-10,Rider 192 with 8-12,St peter and Iona at 8-9 at 148.
Temple is 232rd.One notch ahead of Towson. But Marist is 226th at 6-14.Make that 6-15.
GL today.

thanks scott.I just re-read my post.I have Eppehimer playing the 3,4 and 6 positions.Only Seton Hall has a player that plays the 6.Sorry.

caper..I'm up at Glen Falls on the 13th,14,15 and 16 at the NY state b-ball finals. Are you in that area.Depending on who makes it I can get you tickets. If a local Albany team or Saratoga make it thens its tough because they sell out.If a Shenandahowa makes it forget it.The Civic center is all green. let me know. When is the MC-Siena game.I'll be in divorce court if I go up there twice.

Taker,

The Manhattan and Loyola-MD game is being played in Trenton, NJ. Trenton is roughly half-way between New York City and Maryland. Shouldn't make it hard on either team's fans to travel, but dunno if either of these teams travel well.

Good luck!
