Niagara +8 over Marist **
Foxes just beat at home UMass-Lowell 81-69 the other nite...Purple and Foxes are the worst teams in the MACC finishing 10th or 11th in pre-season mags......Purple are ranked 1st in scoring avg 75 pts a game top 3pt %in the MAAC..but those stats mean nothing because its vs non conf teams...2 of 3 of the best players in the MAAC are going against each other.. Purples Scott and Foxes Hart...think Foxes should win because Parker and Hart are the best gd tandem in the conf.. Parker can score and only shoots good % shots...one of the best sophs in the country...should of transferred last yr...he also leads the Foxes in rebounding and is a gd....Foxes have no front line...Brooks scored 3 pts vs UMass the other nite but did get 10 bds...Purple has Scott and Dukes at gd....adv to Foxes at the gds..Purple has 6'7 and 6'8 Prochet and Robb..adv Purple....Foxes win by a few...Carey who will be fired at the end of this year since taking over for Joe M...he is 6-39 on the road for the Purple...
Iona -2 over Peter **
Iona is like a broken record...last yr avg 91 pts a game gave up 92..this yr they avg 73 and give up 74...they have 2 transfers that weren't taught the Iona system yet..Cassell who is on fire hitting 3's from all over..impact player...and Severe the Fordham kid who is outstanding...mvp of the team....the good news is its early in the season so there Iona habits haven't set in yet......in a few more games they will revert to no defense,shoot from all over and never get an assist...I'm banking on its to early to learn those bad habits...Iona played Fl St tough for awhile and split 2 games with Nevada...Peter hasn't changed its style...plays good defense,rebounds well on the def ds,has Welton,Wyche and balanced scoring....will keep it close but will not be able to stop Severe and Cassell...Iona has their big guy inside Washington who is leading scorer avg 19 pts but he will be in foul trouble 10 minutes into the game... Peter will attack him and get him in foul trouble....Peter has the talent and team to to win this...but lyr Iona won at Peter 75-67 and Peter had 381 fans at Yantelli....its to bad they can't get fan support...also Much for Iona is out tonite who last yr scored 10 and 14 pts for Iona...but that justs let Cassell have the ball more...hopefully he gets a few assists...
Canisius +4 over Manhattan **
Listened to Witherspoon press conf about his Griffs..now Reggie coached at Buffalo and played uptempo,etc...now at Canisius its different..he doesn't have the athletes he had before he got fired last yr...press conf..."we need easy baskets,attack the basket,fast break,get easy baskets on fast breaks,press hit our open shots,etc,etc...well hate to tell you Reggie but your current team can't do any of those things...but Valenti who has been at Can for 7 years had 28 and 25 pts the last 2 yrs vs Manhattan...lyr Griffs lost 65-62 @ Manhattan and Jaspers had Richardsm,Stores and Williams score 62 of the 84 pts in the 2nd game..all are gone.. Williams Manhattans best player is still out...not sure when he comes back...Jaspers play solid defense..think Griffs give them a game tonite in the Bronx...
