MAAC plays most of its leagues games on Fridays and Sundays. That's kinda nice since there not going up against all the other conferences. From a standpoint in playing MAAC games esp out of conf. be careful.Only Niagara is 5-1ats.Then you have Iona and Manhattan at 2-1,three others at 2-3 and Loy Md and St Peter at 0-4 and 0-2.

Fairfield -4 over Iona **** best play
Stags beat Peter by 20.They have solid gds with Han,good frontcourt with Edney,Nero and Johnson, play tough defense, and are at home.To challenge Iona's Springer they can put in 6'9 Evanovich and 6'11 Olander.I really think this team has a small shot at Siena.Iona lost to Marist the other nite.Brutal loss..losing the entire game, comes back and blows it.No outside shooting what so ever.Gds that dribble into traffic, poor shot selection.Springer the 1st half thought he was still on the bus from New Rochelle.Prodanic there only outside shooter is in a slump.I think Stags win this by double digits. If Iona plays like they did vs marist, fairfield wins by 20.Cooley had these kids playing great at the end, then they fell in the MAAC tourney..but his kids are playing like they did in the 2nd half...

Canisius -2.5 over St Peter ***
Yes,the Griffs are road favorites. It was 1969 the last time they were rd favs.[just kidding] I thought they could go down to Manhattan and give them a game friday nite. But the same old thing happened. They couldn't score and they couldn't stop Austin and the MC's gds. They have lost 13 straight MAAC road games.Lyr was swept by the lowly Peters. But they return most of there starters.Gadley is there 6'9 big guy that Peter has no one to match up too.Turner is a solid pt gd.Loggins is a 6'7 scorer but gets lost.Vaz-Simmons comes off the bench and has done nothing. He led the MAAC in blocked shots.I think he has 4 or 5.Goldsberry a starter also has done nothing. These guys have to wake up esp vs Peter.
In order for Peter to be a +2.5 dog vs Can you know they are bad.Leon and jenkins are solid and lyr had big games vs Griffs. But they have little supporting help. This is a young team. In fact they are the 6th youngest team in the country.Jenkins and Leon are sophs,Bacon is a soph,Gooding a jr and Traore a Sr.The 1st 3 guys off the bench are frosh..
Griffs finally get a rd win and hopefully it will be by more then 3 pts.

Rider -6.5 over Mahattan **
Tough game.MC has Austin playing well with its
3 gds. They play tough defense but are on the rd.Rider at home on campus is tough.Thompson and Mansell are solid.Gadson and Ringgold are 6'7 fds that match up well vs MC.Rider has 4 starters back.MC has a history of never winning in NJ.

Niagara -5.5 over Loy Md ***
Purple has quick gds in Lewis,Nelson and Garrison.Benn at 6'5 has been outstanding leading them in steals, assits and rebounds.Egemonge is 6'10 and Loy doesn't have any post defense.See a big rebounding edge today.Loy has 2 small gds in Harvey and Ruldoph. Most of there top scorers are all gds,Sullivan,Lewis, etc.Wright and Reid are there only real presence in the paint and both avg10 pts combined.Loy lost all its good players and depended on Brown so much lyr.Think they need some time to develop. One thing they do good is shoot FT's.Pastos is nuts as there coach. He;s the one who put a triangle-two on Curry vs. Davidson. They lost 78-48.curry was held to 3 pts and stayed away from the basket.Davidson played 4-vs 3 and blew them away. All so he could say he held Curry to a career low..also Patos had an incident with the Niagara AD a few yrs ago..kicking in a door....If Purple can get a lead they are blowing the greyhounds away..bad blood.

Going with the 4 favs..thats not good..could mean everyone covers and I'm 0-4 today.. GL

Hey Box,
Yer up and at em early and I love your analysis of the MAAC (its the best)
I am in full agreement with the 'Stags today and I think the pointspread will move up a bit from here.
Stags are on a roll right now...shooting well, sharing, and Cooly's Defense 1st philosophy will spell trouble for Iona who is not playing well and shooting flat out lousy. They had 1500 at Harbor Yard the other night and if success brings fans out then its good news for Fairfield.Could easily be a DD win for the Stags!

Fairfield blew an easy cover with poor play in the second half. Nevertheless, Fairfield will be a "cross your fingers" play everytime because they CAN'T shoot foulshots. Yesterdays % in the 60s and 2 for 7 in the last 2 1/2 minutes for the L.
Game at Harbor Yard again and NO STUDENT SUPPORT. announced crowd 2200 actual crowd about 900. I like this team Box but they will be tough to bet at HY for those 2 reasons. Support and FT.
