Sorry about Siena and New mex St.That was a poor, poor job on my part.Siena was leading 49-36 and just fell apart.Karawanga fouled out and the Foxes 2 gds combined for 45 pts.Marist shot 67% in the 2nd half.Siena was caught looking ahead.
Did win with Brown big.Parlayed Yale and Brown.Played it straight up too.

Manhattan -4 vs Canisius
Not going to bore you guys with a long post.I thought the Jaspers would lose one upstate between Niagara and Can.But to me they had to beat the purple.
Griffs have Dux and Mallory.Dux again is the best pt gd in the MAAC.Mallory can slash and shoot. But the Griffs inside game is in trouble.Holmes,Johnson, and co inside should dominate the glass.
Flores forget.Another 25 pts the other nite.I think he was 16-18 from the FT again.Just dominating every aspect of the game.Shooting, penetrating, passing, etc
Jaspers quickness and inside game give Dux trouble.I know the jaspers haven't won both games up on the NY State Thruway in 10 yrs.So what.I'll take the 6'2 Flores and his 'sign of the cross" when he shoots his FT's over the Griffs.

Niagara -4 over Iona
Iona had a nice win over Canisius the other nite. They are so much quicker then everyone. They have 6 gds that can all fly.But Smith their best player got hurt.he is listed as doubtful[someone else check on that please]
I like the Purple today.Iona's weakness is Niagara strength.Inside game.Reaves and Mendez control the paint.Cruz and Darden the top.Purples weakness again is depth. In the Manhattan game the other nite all those guys played 36 -40 minuts.
But I think they handle the gaels today.I had the number at 2 or 3 so -4 seems a notch to high. Will play it lightly and if Smith is out who is Iona's leading scorer maybe a small upgrade. The problem with that is any of the young Iona freshman can step right up.Thats how talented this group of frosh are.Three of them went to the same HS All hallows. And with young teams you know they get better from a defensive stand point as the season goes on.

Rutgers +6 over the Hall
It's the battle of New Jersey. With a combined record of 4-9 in the BE.Both teams are having major problems. But both are coming off big wins vs Georgetown and the Cuse.Trying to figure these guys out is impossible.
Both teams are having internal problems.Walters can coach though.Orr has no clue. You have heard me say it before. He always does something on the bench that causes a loss.In the Georgetown game he forgot to tell someone he was out. They go out and run that great 2-3-1-1 out of bounds play and score with 7 seconds left. Then Orr plays that 2-2-2 full court press and the Hoyas score off it.Damn.5 guys vs 6 and you defense lets them score.
Anyway if Esherick didn't have his head up his ass he wins this game with a "T".You wait for the inbounds play and then whisper to the ref.Bingo.
But Esherick didn't even know until 10 minuts after the game.
I'll take Rutgers + the pts.I see both of these teams going back and forth.Someone wins by 2 or 3 pts.

Miami +5.5 over the Johnnies. Not a big play.Think the canes gds are playing better.Darius and his partner Jones are tough.Hattan and Eligah are solid. But the Johnnies frontline is always a question mark.King,Cuffe,Shaw, etc
This game has always been close if there not playing at Alumni Hall.

Wake Forest -2.5 over NC
Like there experince and love the name Vytas.

About the Lebron James incident. As an athletic director for over 25 yrs,if you broke the state handbook rules "your gone".Forget all the other stuff. The "hummer" got by the Ohio athletic code.If it happened in NY it would be the same. His mother,a gift, etc. But accepting what he did is against the rules. You can argue about him being taking advantage off, people making money off him and his school. Those are all other issues.
He broke a rule in their athletic state handbook. He broke Rule 243,section 506,on page 35 of the Ohio St Public HS code.
So did Ramone Johnson of Shaker High because he was 19 and Billy Bob of Ravenna because he changed his transcript and is a 5th yr senior.
I'm making this up but I'm sure like NY there are over 20 -30 other atheltics that have been declared ineligible in schools regions or sections. At the December meeting in my area 5 athletes were declared ineligible. One is appealing because of the hardship clause.
The pt I'm making is other kids are declared ineligible all the time. You can't start changing the rules. But every state athletic assc is now writting some new law about gifts, etc. I sat on the eligibilty comm. for 10 yrs in my section. We were always fair. GL today

Bear..I was like you.But inside the paint the Jaspers should dominate.Thats what kept the Purple in the game.Griffs have 6-8 300 pound Spruil. To slowwwwww. be careful with the Griffs.

Box,

While I agree with you that James should be done for the season, I will almost guarentee he will seek a temporary injunction to allow him to finish out the season until a appeal can be heard. The Ohio High School Athletic Commission seems to take a black eye whenever a school or athlete takes them to court on an appeal. The bad thing for me is that I have tickets to todays SVSM game against McKinley!!!!

You asked for confirmation, and while I haven't seen Steve Smith in an injury report, ESPN's recap of the game confims the dislocated finger and quotes the coach as saying that he is doubtful today. Good luck.

BOX, JUST WANTED TO CHIME IN FOR A SEC. FIRST OF ALL GL ON YOUR PLAYS TODAY! AS FAR AS THE LEBRON JAMES ISSUE, DO YOU REALLY THINK IF YOU OR I WERE THE 11TH OR 12 TH GUY ON THE BENCH THIS WOULD REALLY BE AN ISSUE? PERSONALLY DON'T THINK SO. I'M SURE NOBODY WOULD REALLY GIVE A HOOT ABOUT US AS BENCH PLAYERS.

APPEARS TO ME EVERYONE FROM HIS SCHOOL TO THE MEDIA CAN PROFIT ON HIS SKILLS EXCEPT HIM. WHAT'S A FEW JERSEYS?

KINDA REMINDS ME OFF ALL THESE COLLEGE COACHES MAKING MILLIONS FOR MAKING THESE KIDS WHERE ADDIDAS OR NIKE AND THE KID GETS JACK!!!!

MAYBE WE SHOULD LOOK AT THE BIG PICTURE AND REEVALUATE SOME OF THESE SILLY RULES BUT LIKE YOU SAID THE RULES ARE THE RULES:confused:

Firstly, I'm with you on the Jaspers. Currently at -4.5 but I bought the hook. Hope I won't need it.

Next, my $0.02 on Lebron James:

Clearly the kid is unbelievably talented. From what I've seen, he is purely amazing for his age. He's going to make a vast amount of money and there within lies the problem. It just saddens and bothers me that he doesn't have responsible and disciplinary adults/mentors standing by his side to guide him properly in the right direction. With that kind of amazing talent he possesses, I don't think it's farfetched to say that he CAN become truly a great basketball player. BUT, with that kind of attitude and clearly lack of maturity, I'm not sure he will become a great player going into the BIG league.
IMO, the kid's already blinded by the flashy materialism of today's multi-multi millionaire super-player-stardom. I'm not one to judge how a parent should raise his/her child, but Lebron's mother's decision in getting him that 50G's Hummer just bothers me. The kid is still in high school!!

HEY TONY, NOT SURE WERE YOU LIVE OR HOW OFTEN YOU GET OUT BUT I DRIVE BY MANY HIGH SCHOOLS AND SEE A LOT OF CARS I KNOW THAT TEACHERS CAN'T AFFORD: FROM ESCALADES TO PORSCHE NOT TO MENTION SOME OF THESE IMPORTS W/THE $10,000 PAINT JOBS AND $10,000 STEREO SYSTEMS. LET ME GUESS YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THIS?

QUICK QUESTION FOR YA AND ANYONE ELSE.

WHAT WOULD YOU DO IF YOU WERE IN LEBRONS SHOES?

DON'T WAIT TO LONG CAUSE YOU'LL PROBABLY BE ABLE TO BUY A PAIR NEXT YEAR FOR ABOUT $150.00!

DIME:D

Here is my question for the forum.... After getting by the OHSAC with the gift of the Hummer, did LeBron really think that he was going to get by with accepting the throwback jerseys? A friend of mine threw an idea at me yesterday that maybe he didn't want to play high school basketball again, that every time he suited up it was to make someone else some money. I'm sure whoever gave him that jersey whispered that in his ear. This is just a thought and I wanted to get everyone else's opinion on this. I know he is appealing the case, but is that just a front or does he really care about playing the rest of the season? Just a thought....

hey Goat, hope the family and all the little "yews" are doing well.
Heyward-thanks for the info on smith
mastercapper-ask for a refund.Thats is to bad about seeing him play. There is nothing greater then seeing a kid play in HS and then seeing him play in college a few yrs later.I saw ben gorden, hodges of NC St,etc

Dimedaddy, your 100% right about them making profit on him.And I have had other schools question some of my players about eligibilty. And of course its about my 6'6 power foward who scored 27 pts the other nite.
But a rule is a rule. The 12th player cannot break it either. And your right, who the hell cares about the 12th player.
I have had a good share of D-1 propects play for me.I had the 2nd most sought after big kid in the state after Christian Laettner.
He went on his 4 or 5 D-1 visits and too 5 juco visits when he couldn't predict.
But as his coach he was given the rules over and over again. He couldn't accept anything, etc. On his one trip to a juco in Tenn[Hiwasse]the coach did something wrong.I found out about it after my kid was flying back to LaGuardia Airport.
On monday I reported there ass's to Boulder,Colorado for a juco violation. An investagation took place and I got an apology via the phone.
But if my kid knew he couldn't do what the coach did his status playing hoops could of been in trouble.
Any of us coaches tell and intruct all our players. The NCAA guidelines are in every guidance office in every HS in America.
Now AAU is another matter. What has happened the past 6 or 7 yrs is unreal. These kids do accept gifts from AAU organizations.I could write a book on that.In fact one of the biggest "givers" is now an asst coach in the BE.Watch closely and you could see him today.
Lebron can appeal. He should have his due process.I don't know the Ohio state Public Ath. Asso. But they are all educators, coaches and AD's.There not the NCAA.
My NYPHAAS are all former adminstrators, teachers and coaches. Not appointee's.They are fair and like my fellow Ohioians will make the right choice.
