I have the line at -5 to -8 pts.Think Niagara wins by close to double digits.

Canisius -9.5 over Loy Md
I think everyone is going to jump on that.Griffs had a shooting nite vs Marist a few days ago.

Manhattan -12 over Fairfield...playing in Draddy,Jaspers defense will smother the Stags.

Yest Hall and Texas killed me.Then New Mexico couldn't do anything vs AF.Lost on UConn,Hof,Char, and a few more.Terrible.
Won with Dayton,thank god for Zona and got some revenge from Denver beating Fl Int.Overall 5-10.Pretty bad.Way to many games but some were small plays.
I had capped the Johnnies-Nova game a few days ago.The line is 9.5.Still working on it.be back later

Good Luck Box. The only thing that scares me about the Canisius/Loy.Mary game is Canisius's poor free throw shooting. Hopefully that won't be a factor.

Niagara -1 over Rider
Despite Rider being a good home team in the Broncs Zoo and beating a good Penn team they did lose the other nite to Siena.Rider is led by Johnson their star pt gd.Castleburry the 7'0 has played well the past 4 games.Rider in MAAC stats is about in the middle on most.FT shooting is excellant at No2.Defense is rated 3rd holding teams to 67 pts agame.There dead last in 3 pt FG%.Turnovers,Reb margin,all middle of the pack.
Niagara comes in as the No1 or 2 MAAC in rebounding,scoring margin,assits,assit-TO margin,Off rebounds,def rebs,3 pt shooting,etc.They have the best 3 pt shooter in the MAAC in Brooks.The No 1 scorer in Mendez at 25 pts game.Cruz leads in assits.Darden is 10th in scoring.Reaves is 6th in bds.
Niagara problem is defense.There is no clock violations when Niagara has the ball.They are weak in transition defense.Teams with good gds like Iona and manhattan give them problems.Johnson is a gd who will give them problems.Rider is so inconsistent though.Castleburry has 2 bookends to worry about in Reaves and Mendez in the paint.These 2 hit the off bds.
And Niagara is also the No1 FT shooting team in the conf.
You have a high powerd offense that can control the bds vs a team that is pretty solid,plays good defense but don't think they have enough to stop the Purple.

Bear,whats your take on Timmy's boys.My numbers all have Manhattan winning by 15.What your take???Other then Todd I see no one creating their own shot.Manhattan defense is tough.Straight man/man,good help side,etc.
And I watched the marist game.Magarity's 2-3 zone stopped the stags.There offense was so bad.Scored only 50 pts.And marist is no great defensive team.

I'm going to stay away from Manhattan....Not sure why because they have been "at their best" in their last 4.......I mean not even close to the pointspread.
If Fairfield did not come up big v Iona I'd be all over this one but Sogadzi made his first start and scored 17 with solid D and Gai broke out from his mini-slump.........Granted Iona D is not the best but 81 points makes me wanna wait for the Harbor Yard matchup on Wednesday (a makeup from Dec)........They played 2 close ones last year before the finale....so I'm going to pass the double digits and look to play on Wed...after a looksee.........
I would NEVER........play Ffld today the way Manhattan has been playing.......better team....coach....home and on a roll....

gl today box. perhaps im insane but i had a slight lean to loyola maryland; however that was last night when the line was +10. seeing +8 now. even if thats a sharp line move, theyre still a bad team and if i backed em, id want all the pts i could get. the thing that stands out is canisius' free throw shooting. its toward the bottom of the entire country. i know theyre certainly a better tm than loyola but just think that could haunt them down the stretch. gl buddy

that manhattan/fairfield game is interesting. the old home-and-home series. these two teams are playing again in 3 nights in fairfield. that might be a better time to consider the stags. last game of a month-long road trip for fairfield today. it wouldnt surprise me to see them struggle today, then come home in the rematch on wednesday and beat manhattan outright in a few nights. today though, like you said- could be all manhattan

Personally I am on Fairfield +12, just dont see the Jaspers pounding the Stags today. I am seeing about an 8 pt win for Man.


Love the Niagra though. The Zoo is tough, but Niagra just has too much for Castleberry as you pointed out. NU clamps down on Johnson & we are rollin to the bank with NU!!!

Nova -9.5 over Johnnies
Johnnies are bad but they did play great vs the Cuse last week.But Cuse sits in its zone.So there 2 top scorers who are 5'10 and 5'11 know what defense their playing against.Nova has a decent defense.I think with Frazier back Nova inside defense improves big time.
Nova is loaded with talent.Allen is one of the top shooters in the BE.Sumpter,Foye, and super frosh Nardi are solid.
Although they lost 3 or 4 in a row they got a nice win at BC.They have played a tough schedule and played Kansas,Memphis and ND tough.
Johnnies are hurt'in big time.They rank dead last or second to last in about 8 catogories.Turnovers,Rebounding,reb margins,3 pt def%,FG%,FT%[11th]offense,scoring,scoring margin, 3 pt FG%etc,etc
Nova is ranked 2nd in FT%4th in 3 pt %and the middle of the pack in the rest.Nova is dead last in turnovers.But have know fear.Johnnies are a fraction behind them.
Johnnies cannot score unless their gds create something.Think Johnnies have trouble in Philly today.
A small play for me because of the 9.5 pts.Nova will have problems vs teams that press and trap.Johnnies can't do that.


Ksyas..your right about the fav's.But I have both dogs,Colts and Panthers in football.

Boilermaker...Griffs do rank the worst in FT's but they can shoot.Doss,Foster,Downey can shoot.This team is a lot better then there playing.Loy-md has Bell.I'll come back later for a few comments

bear..I'm taking Manhattan but lightly.Maybe watching Fairfield vs Marist last week is on my mind.Jaspers defense is so tough.Inside I can see Gai and Thomson battling Holmes,Benton and co.

Twofingers...The FT% are from the MAAC conf games.Rider is shooting 75% in conf.Niagara is 77%.
After 6 or 7 conf games I'll use conf stats instead of overall.So Rider is shooting 65% overall.
But FT stats are one of the few that can carry over.Rebounding,defense,scoring,etc, are much more meaningful when playing in conference.Its easier to compare.But you need to wait until they play a few games.Comparing stats in conf play but adding overall are deceptive readings.
Manhattan might play 7 weak non conf teams and get great stats.Rider might play 5 tough teams are their numbers might be low and reflect that.

3 seconds...your right about 12 and a rematch on Wed.My numbers are close to the -12.But watching them play the other nite made up my mind.But thats not good capping.We all have our fav teams play bad one nite and look great the next.

G-man,I agree with Wed games.The bus ride down to the Bronx is only an hour away though.It's snowing now but the Stag bus has EZ pass.And hopefully that is just what Flores will do to them.EZ win...GL

this conference along with pac 10 kills me every year.i see rider is up by about 8 points in 2nd half but yet they lose to siena and fairleigh dickerson.isn't niagara better than those 2 teams.
