Iona is the best team in the MAAC and could easily blow out Purple but Purple at home won't go easy and I think they can cover. Long bus ride for the New Rochelle team on the NY State thruway.

Think Tigers win in double digits at home Also made a prop bet which I never make in college hoops Davis over 22 pts ***

Went to Texas St game last night. Tx St up 1 with 4.8 seconds and ODU taking it out with the entire court in front of them ODU was up 68-62 with 1.29 on the clock but blew that lead. anyway Tex St goes into a 3/4 1-2-1 ,3/4 press. Tex St please put someone on the out of bounds passer. The ODU out of bounds player see's the entire court throws it in to an uncontested at mid court An ODU player drives to the basket and hits a winning layup at the buzzer and wins by 1, I have ODU +1.5 so I'm happy .
As a coach please always put someone on the ball so the out of bounds thrower cannot see the entire court with no pressure . Every D-1 team has a dribbler that can penetrate any full court zone defense. And 4.8 seconds is a lot of time on the clock even though you have to go full length.
ODU scores at the buzzer and the team is celebrating on the court . Tex St fans are stunned except me because I won and covered.
Hind sight is always easy after the game but Tx st lost a game they should of won at home . What I would of done Pressure the out of bounds passer. Show a press but drop back into a match up zone. Let me loose by a 25 ft shot not a layup ..
Not complaining since I won my bet but coach you failed the Hubie Brown, Al Mcguire philosophy of basketball.
Hubie Brown at a clinic always said " end every practice on a last second play on offense and defense.He also asked the 300-400 coaches listening to him " how many of you out there end practices doing FT and suicide drills ". He then said "are you guys Fu...king crazy." Wow that was me. so for the next 15 years I ended every practice on a last few seconds play and we ran it until it was perfect. I won a lot of last second scores or def stops over the years only to have the other teams coach or sportswriters call it a lucky win. When you practice that play over and over again its not luck anymore. I would let all my players the next day see the quote in the paper at practice and say " Lucky" and laugh. And then before practice even started I would run that play at the beginning and say " thats right coach we won on luck.. My kids would smile and laugh knowing other teams would think thats how they lost. Thank you Hubie and Al McGuire and all those other coaches I stole from ..
